[Kanda is presently occupying one of the neutral sitting rooms, on one of the couches. His his lap is a wododen box, old and weathered with some vines sticking too it and the hinges and clasp rusted over.  It's roughly jewelry box sized

[Crosses his arms over the back of the couch to peer over at what Kanda is doing]

[Pickpickpick at the rust. Blinks. Tilts his head back to look at him]

[Points to the box]

Don't know. [Looks back to it] It was out in the courtyard.

[Leans over even farther] Want me to try to pry it open?

[flowercomplex]

[Leans away from] How?

[besomeothername]

[Pulls out his Innocence, still in miniature form, and gestures for the box]

... As long as you're not planning to smash it with that thing.

I solemnly promise not to attempt any smashing.

[Holds it out for him. Just don't mind whatever is rattling about in there]

[Stares at it a bit] Was it always moving?

It stopped for a while. [Tilts it, a sound thump from inside]

[Just a bit of a worried look. Who knows what was in there?]

[Takes the box and sets it on the top of the couch, holding it steady with one hand while trying to use his hammer as a crowbar to pry off all the rusted hinges]

[Who knows, but Kanda isn't overly concerned. Watches him quietly, waiting to see if he can manage to get it open]

[Manages to pry a couple off of the hinges. The main clasp is proving to be a bit problematic though]

[Reaches to take it. If Kanda can wedge the lid up enough to get his finger under it be can probably force it to break with sheer strength]
