[Kanda is presently occupying one of the neutral sitting rooms, on one of the couches. His his lap is a wododen box, old and weathered with some vines sticking too it and the hinges and clasp rusted over.  It's roughly jewelry box sized

(He usually doesn't disturb other people, but this is the first time he's seen a Japanese person.)

The lid is stuck?

Apparently. [Grunts, hands slipping and nearly dropping the box. Frowns]

If it's too stubborn to open, maybe a vacuum occurred. A knife or something that can poke a hole into it might help.

Why would I poke a hole in wood?

[Sounds like more work that just this to him. Adjusts its position, picking at the rust on the latch]

To counter the vacuum. Or you can pour some soda-- coke, is the best choice-- to remove some of the rust. It'll help loosen the latch.

There's no vacuum. [Whatever he even means by that. As far as Kanda's concerned, the rust is the only obstacle. Pauses, leaning a little to peer at the latch]

Or I could pick it off with a knife. [Either the rust or the latch, he's not picky]

If you have one. Is the latch loose at all?

I can get one. [Picks at the latch a little]

Loose enough.

[willbechief]

Try shaking it loose?

[flowercomplex]

[Pause. Lifts the box up and holds it so the front is down and shakes vigorously. Shakeshakeshakeshakeshake.

Yeah that's not working. Stops shaking, though whatever's inside has started thrashing about on its own now]

Th-that's...

(He wants to laugh. He really does. It was sort of cute how this person did that.)

... Not what I meant. Here, may I try?

[Frowning so hard at it. Why you gotta be so difficult, box]

... Fine. [Holds it out a little. Reever will still have to come the rest of the way]

(Takes the box from him and starts jiggling the latch.)

Does it matter if the latch is broken?

[Whatever is in the box stops moving when Reever starts to fiddle with the latch. Kanda shrugs]

Not really.

Alright.

(Though it comes out more like an "A'ight" with his accent. He jerks the latch hard.)
