[Although anyone finding themselves here might have only taken one flight of stairs up or down, this short hallway is at least ten stories above the nearest courtyard. Look to the right; a couple yards down, the hallway comes to a dead end at an open door ( Read more... )

[Investigating! Well. She's mostly interested in the stars and the orrery, but the white butterfly catches her attention soon enough. It doesn't look good. She hesitates in the doorway, glancing over her shoulder before stepping cautiously into the room.]

Hello? Is anyone here?

[Tyki jumps, but relaxes again as soon as he sees who it is.] Over here.

[He's sitting in a window seat, looking worse for the wear with one arm in a sling and bandages. There's a crutch and a bottle of whiskey within reach on the floor, and an Exorcist coat in the third style hanging on a chair nearby.]

[Ouch, ouch, ouch. A strange look passes over Lenalee's face as she looks between the butterfly and Tyki. She doesn't move from the doorway, though.] What happened to you?

[He gives her an odd look at her own expression, then waves his free hand.] Fell down a very long flight of stairs. Nasty situation, that; someone had slicked up the steps and there wasn't even a hand railing.

That's in terribly poor taste. I doubt if you'd be alive after falling down enough stairs to damage your Innocence this much. What really happened?

Would you believe "running with scissors"? [His butterfly starts fluttering and crawling back towards him.] ... I lost a fight, that's all.

The kind of fight where this is lucky? [Gestures at the butterfly, and, after a second of silence, holds out her hand. She'll carry it back to him, if he wants, though that's. Doubtful.]

Something like that. [He blinks at her hand. He doesn't care too much about that particular butterfly, but as long as she's offering, the butterfly will flutter over to her. Just be careful; it's very fragile at the moment.]

Anyway, how have you been?

[She'll be incredibly careful, letting it land on her hand and carrying it over to him, with her other hand held up to keep air currents from hitting it.]

Here.

I think it's safe to say I've been better than you. [Her right wrist is wrapped in gauze to almost her elbow, but most of it is graciously hidden by her coat sleeve.]

[It butterfly sits tamely while she carries it. It's not quite so fragile that air currents would damage it, but that certainly doesn't hurt.]

Thanks. [He holds up a hand, and the butterfly crawls onto it.]

[He spots her wrist.] It looks like you've run across your share of trouble, though.

[Tugs her sleeve lower.] Yes, well, I ran into some... something in a library last week.

Things are lurking in libraries now? Suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

I think the only reason the library was even there was to let whatever it was run loose.

What was this thing in the library?

Shadows. It looked like... shadows. But it had-- teeth, I suppose, or else it wouldn't have. Well. [She lifts her injured arm, smiling halfheartedly.]

Teeth. And shadows. Living in a library that only existed to house it.

If it wasn't for your arm, I'd ask if you might've been dreaming.
