[Relieving Allison of her mug of coffee. She did have donuts after all, didn't she? Also finding the remote corner of one couch or chair that isn't covered in paperwork.]

Did you pick up a new job as a resident pack rat?

[She makes a face at him stealing her coffee. It's plain, no creme or sugar. The couch has a free corner only the left side is stacked with papers.]

Very funny, but no. This is the room I keep all my reports, maps, and recon information on this place in.

[Picking up a random folder. Something about a courtyard and its weather. He reads it with about as much interest as one trying to skim a newspaper as he drinks the coffee. Stare ignored.]

Doesn't the information get dated after a time?

That's why it has to be kept updated. If I don't keep doing recon then the data is useless.

[Blinks a bit. He was forgetting something, wasn't he? Oh, that's right.] Nice to see you are back and in one piece. I do believe your brother was quite worried. And ready to skin some people alive at one point.

[Setting the folder back down and holding the mug in both hands.] Found something on your trip to the other side that warrants writing down?

Yes he was. I think he's calmed down...and thanks for the welcome back.

[She winces.] This is a pet project, someone asked for my help. Instead of fights to the death, we figure the lower levels could be put to use to avert something that pointless.

[A donut is devoured before she continues.] My trip to the other side was...traumatic and the report is on my laptop. [She points to the computer on the rather clean, cherry oak wood desk.]

[Surprised at the wince. He truly is as he sips the coffee.] This is something recent? Worried that something might come of the recent events? Even if it does, it won't last for long. Besides, I was under the impression the lower levels were filled with more horrors than pleasantries.

[He looks at the laptop quite skeptically. He and technology had come to an agreement. Their original meeting had been similar to a blind date and after an hour of making small talk, they decided to part ways. Forever. A sort of 'my side of the world' and 'your side of the world' type of agreement.] Surely you must have a copy of that written on one of these stacks somewhere.

Something always comes of events here. You could swing a dead cat and nark someone.

...

And you see my point. They can deal with the horrors told in Lovecraft.

[She walks over to the desk and flicks on the printer. There's a noise he won't recongize but she does.] Give it a few minutes then.

And time will always cause it to still. ... Though, I'm afraid swinging a dead cat may not be as useful as you claim.

[He grins a bit wickedly at that.] So you aren't holding up down there as much as showing them a tour of the less explored places. My, my, I didn't know you had it in you.

[He gives a nod of acknowledgment. Technology wasn't going to eat him per say. He just realized it was meant for some and not for others.]

My point is people get offended or angry over anything, somethings that happen are just excuses to be twits.

[She shrugs and pours herself another mug of coffee.] If it comes to it, I'll do it. Death is pointless here. Using this place creatively isn't.

[She collects the printed pages and sighs.] Do you know of something called the 'rite of sacrifice'?

solo_insanity August 25 2010, 06:34:43 UTC
Now why would anyone go to the effort of being that aggravating for something that offended them here? Surely versions from some of the worlds are enough to pull one's hair out.

[Laughing outright this time. Oh, he sees why Allison seems such a challenge sometimes. To kill especially. But she was already claimed.] May I purchase your expertise in the matter should I ever find myself in such a situation? The results should be highly entertaining if nothing else.

[Actually standing up to walk over next to her.] No, but the name it sounds charming enough.

You'd be surprised, it's happened to me once with some Akuma that took major offense to something I said. Alex told me about it later.

Only if you can find me a giant freezer. [Don't ask.]

The subject is chained between two rocks, and either drowns from the water flooding in or escapes. [She snags up the last printed page.] I was chained like that in the River Styx to learn how to move while dead. When you're dead you can't drown.

But they are Akuma. Hardly worth the time of day, aren't they?

... ... I can put it on the list. And how many bodies need to fit in it? [Oh, he'll just watch what she does with it if he finds one. But he is rather poor at the scavenger hunt.]

Sounds like one of those old legends. Of what men do to become gods or what gods do to be banished as men. [Hope you don't mind him borrowing all but the last page from your hands. Only he almost drops them at the last statement.]

Now why would you need a skill like that? Better yet, who tied you up and thought that was a brilliant idea?

You haven't heard of master's ability have you?

Ever seen one of those large meat lockers? One of those. [What she plans to do with it is mean and immoral, Cross would be proud.]

[Don't mind at all.] It is an old legend, and not a happy one.

No idea, and I'd rather not talk about the whole affair, it still makes me have nightmares.

Besides the rather good aim, able to get woman to swoon all over him, and avoid debt like water in the desert. No, I hadn't heard of another ability.

They can't be terribly hard to find. [Cross might not be the only one that is proud.]

They never are. [Reading the pages quite carefully for him. He might be even be reading complete sentences before skipping a paragraph or two.] Then if you don't mind a change of subject, I have a question or two of how does one get one of those bat like creatures to spit back what it has recorded.

He can break the Earl's hold on them and control them himself.

Just find me one. [True, true.]

[It details the council of the Keepers decision to teach her to move while dead. The newest Keeper's opposition to the idea and doing what the hell she wanted 'i.e' freeing Allison. Not before Cardio had seen her like that, chained between two rocks.]

Ah, it depends on the golem. You need voice command and the owner of the golem.
