She's been here for quite a while, if the mug of cold tea and a plate of toast has anything to say for it, and it's probably obvious by the way she's holding herself that she hasn't slept in a day or so. Not that it's her fault; it's rather difficult to sleep

[Looks him up and down for a moment, before kicking a book out of the chair across the table from her. It's as much of an invitation to sit with her as he'll ever get.]

[More like nudging the books out of the way, but take it as you will. The chair will remain empty now - because she sure as hell isn't going to get up to put the book away. So, maybe, once he's forgotten about the kicking, he'll come and sit?]
