First off, this is off-shoot community to
dgmdressroom. All characters allowed in the original DR are allowed here as well. It's encouraged to keep CR from the DR instead of starting totally over when the character arrives here. It's up to you whether they remember this place in the original DR or not.
WHAT ELSE IS ALLOWED:
This community also allows special sort of Original Characters, that is children of the residents of the DGM DR. Basically if a character in the DR has a child, the child is allowed to post here. Also allowed are 'children-to-be' which are children who haven't been born yet, but have a good chance of being conceived and born (like a random
cardio-swindle/
booksprout baby is not allowed because it would probably never happen). The other type allowed are adopted children/apprentices who while unrelated to the character still provide that same sort of relationship, plus we can't be leaving out all the Bookmen in this, can we?
How the child was actually conceived and born is of no importance. The usual way is fine, hatched from eggs, given by 'storks', and even f/f or m/m 'magic' pregnancies are fine. It doesn't matter how the child came to be, and we won't ask for proof of the process.
What is definitely not allowed are OCs who have no relation to the original DR, and are simply random Mary-Sue, self-insert types etc.
HOW THIS IS DIFFERENT:
This DR is similar to the original DR in that it allows many kinds of AUs, but what this DR also allows is timeshift AUs. This means that you can play child!AllenKandababy as well as adult!AllenKandababy. It's encouraged that if you decide to play different ages of the same character to make them at least five years apart if not more.
Yes, this means that there will even more copies of people wandering about. Because not only can you play adult!AllenKandababy, but you can play AU!adult!AllenKandababy.
We do ask that each mun only play ONE version of a child so to cut down on the sheer amount of copies possible. This means that's it perfectly fine if you play the child version and someone else plays the adult version and someone else plays the AU!teen version. But not that one person plays all three. (This may change later.)
HOW CR CAN WORK:
If you really want, you can have CR continuous between all the versions, however, that's really difficult and not encouraged.
What is encouraged is to have each version be brought to the DR having forgotten their 'previous' adventures within the DR, if only for the Timey Wimey mischief that could be brought if a teen version decides to tell a child version all about That Event that happens in the child's future, etc etc.
OOC AGREEMENTS:
Because normally a child has two parents, which means two different muns are involved there's several ways to make the child playable OOCly.
-One of the parents takes over the child character. This means that muncest between one parent character and the child character will be unavoidable, however.
-Both parents switch off playing the child. This tends to lead to jumpy CR and differing interpretations of what the child would do in the same situations.
-The parent muns ask a third mun to take over the child. This can only happen with BOTH parent muns' consent, however muncest in family threads is avoided, so yay!
-The parent muns decide on different versions of the child to play. Like one takes the child version and the other the adult version. This leads to understandable differences in the ways the character is played, but that can be explained ICly by the difference in age. Muncest in family threads is still unavoidable, however.
Any version of a child character played must be agreed upon by BOTH parent muns. If one parent decides without the other one to randomly bring in a child character that is later discovered to be utterly against the second parent mun's wants, then the child character will be booted from the DR until the muns can come to an agreement.
HOW TAGS WORK:
Pups from the original DR are encouraged to keep their same tags unless they have been timeshifted as well, in which the tags are to reflect that timeshift along with the original tag.
Children characters are encouraged to each have their own tag as well as one that reflects what age group they are in: Babies (ages 0-2), Toddler (2-6), Child (7-12), Teen (13-17), Young Adult (18-23), Adult (24-45), Elder (46-∞), or the equivalent for the child's race.
These are fuzzy numbers, just to give people the idea of the age range we're shooting for--it's not like you'll be kicked out for using the wrong tag, I promise.
