[Tyki is sitting on the upper railing of the grand staircase. The heels of his boots rest on some of the ornate loops and carving as he balances a cane across his knees. His head is tilted downward towards the commotion below him. People lifting heavy bags while coordinating the exits. He smiles at them and their optimism, a vitality in this place that was rare to find on certain days

Something like that. I wonder how many will be able to adjust back into the normal routine.

That depends entirely on how many of them suffer from amnesia when they go home, yeah. I'm assuming the vast majority of them will forget the Dressing Room.

And then everything will be fine. Back to normal... whatever that is.

I had been wondering about that. Will they keep their memories or not?

Back to normal? Back to the war for most. A soon death for others, but I see you have your own bags packed. And which do you fall in?

[Small little grin at Tyki. Of course, Lavi's "bags" were more in the figurative sense so he was taking so very few material possessions back home with him. Just his memories and his experiences and a few tricks to not end up dead before the war was over]

I recall you once telling me you had to go home to take care of some business. I've been letting mine stagnate for far too long.

Let it continue stagnating. It is hardly necessary any more. And besides, I just gave mine a quick, spring cleaning.

It is. Which is why you should rethink your words. What people do you worry about leaving behind?

Gramps, mostly. Only family I've ever really had.

It'd be kind of a brattish move on my part to ignore the family business just so I can go around eating rainbow cake to my heart's content. Or chocolate tea.

There is another solution, you know, if it is just one man. As for the family business, whose to say there can't be one or two wayward sons.

Bookman's too old to find another apprentice let alone teach him the tools of the trade.

Then he can come here and retire.

And what about the work of the Clan that has been going on for hundreds if not thousands of years? Just say 'Oh well! The Maker is probably going to destroy the world anyway.'
