I've actually been meaning to update here for quite a while now, but I always seem to have something else to do. Let's see...only about 4 months to cover here, I guess. Should be a pice of cake after the time I hadn't posted anything for a year. I'll try to make this as quick as possible in an attempt to actually have people reading it instead of seeing how long it is and skipping over.
Ok..school. This makes three years done, and one more to go before I need to figure out what I'm going to do afterwards for sure. I've taken the MCATs and done just barely well enough to feel confident I can go to medical school SOMEWHERE, although I'd really like to do better than that and give myself a bit of a buffer there. Therefore, I'll likely be taking it again on August 20, which most likely means I'll be back up at school at that point. We'll see how all of this goes, but I'm really hoping that the medical school thing works out, because I have no idea what I'd do with my life if it didn't.
The summer got off to a pretty slow start in the job area. Started out by replacing a deck for a guy at church. It was pretty nice and looked really great when I finished, but is definitely not something I'd enjoy doing on a regular basis. Ended up getting a job with Grosse Pointe Public School's technology department, moving around and setting up computers in all of their school buildings. It's actually pretty easy lately, as our bosses have told us to start working like county workers and slow down as much as possible. I also start volunteering in the emergency room at St. Johns hospital at 11 Mile and Dequindre on Wednesday. It proves to be a bit of a long day, but I'm sure it'll be fine. The voluneering was about one of the last things I needed to worry about for medical school at the moment, so I'm glad to have finally getten around to it. With my finding a job and volunteering and a decent MCAT score, I feel that my luck may finally be coming around, and if that's the case, I see no reason not to push that luck at least until it pushes back.
As you can probably imagine, I don't have must free time lately, with work and volunteering snd studying for the MCATs again. Somehow I've still managed to find at least a little bit of time. I've seen a couple movies, been bowling, and stuff like that. A couple of weeks ago I went to the beach with some people and then off to see the fireworks around here with Christine and Tracy. That was a really good time, although the bugs were out in force and I thought the musical selection could have been improved upon a bit. Last Sunday I went canoeing with Christine, Ben, Sarah, Paul, and Amber. It was great. From the nice kids with exceptional vocabularies to the old people who get to be rude because they're old and everything else. Christine: let me know when you get those pictures developed. I would be very interested in getting some of them or at the very least hanging out sometime and seeing them, so keep my posted, please. Went to the bar on Friday night with Ben, Sarah, and her friend. It was a good time, I thought. Definitely a good way to end an incredibly busy week.
This week promises to be just about as long, but I really feel the need to get out and do something at least once a week now in order to keep myself from going insane with everything going on. Let me know if you're interested in doing something some night this week. Let me know any ideas you may have or when you're free if you feel like it. I'll be at work Tuesday through Friday from 7-3:30 and at the hospital Wednesday from 4:30-8 and Sunday from 11-4. I'm also going to be watching my Aunt and Uncle's house for them this weekend, so I don't know how that's going to go. However, if you're reading this, I want to hang out with you sometime soon, so let me know if you're interested.
