Yick. I had the weirdest thing for dinner last night and I think it's still in the room with me. It was a cheeseburger with cheddar, jalapenos, bacon, and peanut butter. Believe it or not it tasted really, really good, but maybe it was the sheer fat content or whatever since I was up like a shot at 3am with a raging case of heartburn. My stomach still doesn't feel quite "right," though at this point it's hard to say what's up with it.
I had this odd treat when I was out with the Chef and her family to celebrate her Mom's birthday. Her Mom is a sweet and lighthearted, funny lady, so it was a nice time. I agreed to have a margarita with everybody, and it wasn't until I actually tasted the thing that I realized I don't like margaritas, at least the ones on the rocks with the crazysalty margarita salt around the rim. That and it slapped my brain like a neutron bomb - it was hard for me to keep my head up after that.
And the cake! Good Lord the cake! Of course Chef made it herself. A chocolate cake with chocolate and raspberry mousse, and with dark chocolate homemade frosting, served with a pretty titanic scoop of ice cream. It's the first real "sweets" I've had in at least two months. I think it was just tummy overload - it completely put my libido on ice and made my drive home woozy indeed.
It's kind of amazing what gobs of super-rich food can do to you - I'm STILL kinda heavy from it. I couldn't even bring myself to eat breakfast, when usually I'm starving in the morning.
The gym yesterday was fantastic! The thing I'm doing now has three sets of rotating rep ranges - heavy, medium and light. And yesterday was the first time I got back to where I started. Just for kicks I slapped TEN pounds - not five - onto all the weights and cranked them all out. My arms did great! It was the first real, measurable, quantitative improvement in months. I'm a touch sore but it's a completely acceptable amount. No strain, no pain, no nothing. Hot stuff!
Tomorrow, however, it's leg time - and, like with my arms, I'm now circling back to the beginning. This was the workout that fried my legs so bad I was record-breaking sore. I'm not sure how I'm going to approach it. It was a failed workout last time - I got less than halfway through and left when I thought I was going to barf. Surely I've gotten stronger there too, so it's tough to know how conservative I should really be. Eh - guess I'll figure it out, but it IS nice to see numbers jump wherever they might.
Eh - that should do it. Hopefully I'll sleep off this food wackiness.
