So recently I started watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig. In plain english, that's "The Ghost in the Shell series, season 2." Now, they kept 99% of the voices from the English dub of the original film, and 100% of the Japanese voices, and that makes me happy, because the Japanese voices were very spot-on for the kinds of characters they were portraying. The english voices are pretty good too. I noticed something in the credits, though.
Kusanagi's english voice is credited as being Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, which explained why she's familiar to me. As Melissa Williamson, she did the vocals for all of the Silent Hill tracks with a woman singer. Just to be sure I wasn't hallucinating, I checked on Wikipedia. Yep, sure enough, that's her. She wasn't Kusanagi in the original film, but she was Kusanagi in #2, and both series. Well, her Wikipedia entry had a link saying she was married to one "Darran Norris." I thought that was a funny name, so I checked it out. Turns out he's a voice actor as well.
One of his first roles?
The MC at "Club Scum", in the film Hobgoblins.
I find this utterly hilarious.
