“Ginny, please put down the knife,” he pleaded.
When she was truly angry, she cooked. It was never a quiet affair; pots and pans would be banged. And magic would be tossed to the wayside, as she preferred to chop, slice and dice with her bare hands.
Draco assumed this trait was inherited from her mother. Although, he doubted that her mother ever did it in her knickers.
Not that he minded. He loved to watch her.
“Ginny, stop.”
She gave Draco a vicious glare and returned to the cruel murder of innocent vegetables.
“Your mother is just thinking of your best interest. She loves you.” He ducked, barely dodging the hurled tomato. Perhaps, he should try a different approach.
He lightly caressed her arm. She was always so responsive to his touch. The knife clanked loudly on the stone counter.
Her head dipped into his chest. The sound of her soft tears tore at his heart. “Look at me,” he demanded.
When she complied, he could see the burning frustration in her eyes. “Is it always going to be like this? Everyone battling against this …us?” Her voice was weary.
“Yes. Maybe. I don’t know. And it doesn’t matter.” He gripped her waist and gently lifted her onto the counter. “I will fight for this. For us.”
Ginny let out a hushed sigh. She stroked his face, as if to memorize each tiny feature. Finally, she dipped his chin towards her. “I know,” she whispered and kissed him softly.
