thought that i would post a bit...
adam and i were thrown into the wedding whirlwind again this past weekend with the griffith/bader wedding. well...now they are the griffiths so i guess it was the griffith wedding? anyway. the drive down wasn't so bad. i had been feeling crappy the night before with an awful headache so was worried. i woke up feeling a lot better and we made it down in pretty good time. adam forgot the directions so we made a few circles, but we didn't burn too much time or gas. the hotel we stayed in is brand new (opened on july 1st) and sits right on the guadalupe river. it was really beautiful. many of our couple friends stayed in the same hotel. adrian and iris were right across the hall, which was really cool. friday night we went to the rehearsal dinner at the saltlick in driftwood texas. holy crap it was good! they literally brought out plates of meat and set them on the table. when the plate started to look empty they took it and reloaded it. we had to roll ourselves out of that place! we all thought we'd go out afterwards, we didn't make it! saturday i was invited to the bridal brunch at a beautiful little tea house in greune. lovely. the food and comopany were wonderful! i took it upon myself to wander around greune after brunch. the boys had gone to lunch at the gristmill and i was the only girl out of our little friend group that was invited to brunch. it was nice to have a little alone time and dig in antique shops for fun stuff. i put some pics up on facebook. the wedding itself was an absolute blast. it was small and intimate. the church was tiny. we went around the corner afterwards for the reception at an old mill that they have renovated. talk about COOL. after that, everyone hit the tavern in the greune. i went back the the hotel to sleep. i think adam and his buddies were out by the river until about 4am! sunday morning we all went to rudy's for barbeque then hit the road. the traffic was AWFUL. it took us about five hours to get home instead of three. i was SO glad to get here. i'm still pretty sleepy but i didn't have to work today so it's all good.
tomorrow begins my last week of work as a nanny. YAY!!! i think i will only be working in the afternoons due to some camps. that will be nice. i am still looking for jobs. i am going to continue applying for teaching jobs but also start looking for regular admin jobs. i'm disappointed and discouraged but i know something will work out and when it does it will be the right fit. so until then, i'm trying to stay positive and happy.
school starts next wednesday. eek! i'm nervous. i hope it won't be too terribly difficult. i know the reading schedule will probably be intense but i've always been able to handle that just fine. it's the papers that i'm worried about. when i come up against a prof that doesn't like my writing style i have trouble. i just seem to be stuck in my style and not able to change much. oh well, i guess we will see! i'm looking forward to the novels.
i have completed the top layer of my first quilt :) it looks really good, i'm proud of myself. i got the quilting bug when my mom's friend was in town. they were working on quilts and i got all curious. mom and i went to mckinney to get the backing and binding fabric for my quilt today. i'm excited! next step is to send what i've got to a quilter. once it is quilted i will sew on the bindings and YES i've got a quilt! so neat. i also bought another small quilt to make. i can use it for a baby gift or send it to my little ones in kansas. haven't decided yet. it's a quilt as you go pattern so i won't have to pay to get it quilted like this larger one. if i have time in the next couple of months, i am going to take a couple of saturday quilting classes at the quilt shop we've found. they are a few hours long on saturdays usually. if anyone is interested in doing it with me, let me know! k8tlou...i'm SURE you need a new hobby since you've got SO much TIME :P
wow, my life is pretty boring right now. sigh. i need a JOB. i'm quilting for goodness sake! someone HELP me! aaaaahhhhhhhhh....
