An intimidating blank page stares back at me and says:
"I've seen your kind here before. You all seem to think you have something revolutionary say. But let me tell you this: you don't. Your words are the same as your neighbors. The bible has said it. Both new and old. And you are just another interpreter who distorts the truth. Well, I'll tell you this: truth existed long before you, and it is beyond you. You cannot change what I think, nor what others believe. We are conditioned and you cannot change that. Even impressionable youth that seem to follow your "new and profound" thinking will never follow you for long. They too, are conditioned. And so are you."
And I think, "What the fuck?"
And I write: "What I want to say has nothing to do with what has been said. YOU are conditioned to think that what I am saying was said because that is what you have been told to think. But since I am new and profound you cannot comprehend what I say and so you say I say what has been said. It is you who are conditioned. You who is confined to what you have been taught. If I have no recollection of what you are saying that I say, how can I say it?"
The blank page blinks.
It thinks.
My work here is done.
