Reading A Clash of Kings, thoughts so far...

I got the four Fire & Ice books I ordered yesterday in the mail. ($20 for the set of them, not shabby, especially considering that the wait for them when I was going to request them from the library would have taken FOREVER). I had to contain my glee when one housemate told me I got a package ( Read more... )

Awwww, sorry for the intrusion, but since I've read your gourgeous review, I must stay at last to say I AGREE ON EVERYTHING +o+

Arya is awesome. I loved her since the start and then my love for her increased more and more. And I don't care about age gap, she and Gendry are adorable and I ship them with all my heart *.*

Theon, oh God really. I mean, it's so difficult to say something about him without doing spoilers. He's just a complicated kid and I mostly feel pity for him, although there are a few moments in the books (I think you're not there yet) in which I hated him with all the hate I could possibly feel. But, mostly of the time, as I said, I pity him, because all his mistaks and frustations come from the fact that he doesn't know where he belongs.

I love Sansa a lot *O* I don't understand either why most people hate her. I mean, she makes some mistakes but just because she's a little girl with dreams. But God knows if she doesn't show her strength! She's different from Arya, and needs more time to show who she really is, but Sansa is really intelligent and brave in her on way and I'm sure there will be a lot of greatnesses coming from her.

I love Tyrion <3 He's a great character and his chapters made me understand how wonderful, cunning, noble and reliable he is. He and Jaime are ones of my favourite characters (the other ones are the Starks)

Warning: Spoilers through Storm of Swords. dfriendly August 1 2011, 21:53:26 UTC
Why thank you. I finished Storm of Swords not too long ago, so of course I have more thoughts and some changed opinions.

It's not so much the age gap with Arya/Gendry, so much as that she's 10 (or 11 now?). I was also a little disappointed that she left Westeros and now I can't be sure the next time we'll hear about Gendry (if at all). Hopefully we will now that his group and Catelyn seemed to have teamed up? I also hope that Arya will spend like 5 yrs (time passing quicker than in the other books) in Essos and come back to reunite with Gendry and get the shipping on.

Ugh. Theon. I just want to hate him now. I do pity him. But seriously, killing that miller and his wife and kids? That's pretty low. I also don't like that we never saw Theon's guilt for betraying Robb or him second guessing if he was doing the right thing. He was remorseful when he killed the kids, but never for his betrayal. And we also didn't see much of Robb's reaction to the betrayal. I would have liked to see him more angered and hurt.

I imagine that Sansa will have to 'pay' for all her dreaming by being faced with ugly reality - and perhaps have to go through the most shit. Idk, it's just this feeling that I have. I was also almost disappointed that Joffrey died, because I wanted her to find her strength against him, that he would be the dragon for her to slay (figuratively or literally). But now I'm not really sure what big journey she has in store for her anymore.
