Laptop Crisis was not actually crisis.
All day today I thought my computer was fried.
Last night I was making dinner and using a recipe on my laptop, with my laptop plugged into an outlet in the kitchen. At some point it just randomly turned off. I hoped it was just overheated or something. But I had this nagging feeling it was something more, since when I’d opened my laptop earlier it was turning back on from an “unexpected shutdown” or something like that.
So I left it in the kitchen to try in the morning. And when I did, it wouldn’t turn on and I was freaked that the hard drive or whatever was completely busted. I figured I’d wait for my housemates to wake up to borrow one of their laptops to search the internet for repair places and started watching a housemate’s DVDs of Arrested Development. Except somehow that turned into an all-day event.
Finally went back to the kitchen to see if the light on my battery was on, to find that it wasn’t. Then I tried plugging my laptop into a different outlet, to find that HUZZAH, it was working. It was the particular outlet that was malfunctioning.
Good news, laptop is just fine, it just ran out of battery.
Bad news, I am just more convinced that there is going to be an electrical fire in this house. If the furnace or plumbing doesn’t get us first :/
PS: Did I mention I got a virus like 2 weeks ago, as well? Luckily it was the same as the one I'd gotten before so I knew exactly how to kick it. :) I should probably stop streaming tv shows through sketchy websites (N'awwww)
