G. W. Pabst's 1932 Mistress of Atlantis (L’Atlantide) is one of several movies based on Pierre Benoit’s superb 1919 novel L’Atlantide (translated into English under the title Queen of Atlantis).
There was a time when the measure of morality was sexual behaviour, getting married and raising kids, being honest and generally treating people decently. Now the measure of morality is physical health.
I finally got my back x-rayed. It's much worse than I thought. I have to see a specialist, and probably get an MRI. I hate doctors so much. Trying to get doctors to take pain seriously is an uphill battle. I now seem to have a found GP who is at least moderately competent.
Ghosts: being the experiences of Flaxman Low includes all twelve adventures of ghost-hunter Flaxman Low. The stories were written between 1898 and 1899 by a mother-and-son writing team, Hesketh V. Prichard (1876-1922) and Kate O'Brien Prichard (1851-1935), under the pseudonyms E. and H. Heron.
E. Hoffman Price (1898-1988) was a pulp writer and from all accounts a rather colourful character in his own right. He not only corresponded with Lovecraft but actually met him in person and collaborated with him on the story Through the Gates of the Silver Key. He started writing in the 1920s and was still going strong in the 1980s.

Now that Blogger has a whole new look, and is therefore completely unusable, I'm transferring all my Blogger blogs to Wordpress. I'm also going to change my email. I want nothing more to do with Google.
The two most famous anti-utopian novels ever written are of course George Orwell’s 1984 (published in 1948) and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World (published in 1932). There are many similarities, especially in the structure. Looking deeper however there are striking differences in both the tone and in the ideas being put forward.
