Inara has a glass of shimmer wine,a gorgeous new red satin dress, and a huge smile as she greets people walking into the nightclub. It's been an...interesting year and she's happy to have a night to relax.

Come say hi to the nice co-brothel head!

Inara notices the girl hanging hesitantly towards the door and moves over to her, a welcoming smile on her face.

"Good evening and happy holidays. I'm Inara Serra, welcome to Delicate Flowers."

X nods slightly.

"Hello."

Then she pauses, sniffing the air.

"Flowers?"

Inara smiles. "That is the name of our establishment. It's a nickname for some of our workers."

She gives the girl another surreptious look and decides to skip explaining further for now. "Would you like to come in and have a drink? We have plenty of alcoholic and non, plus lots of food."

X pauses, green eyes studying Inara very carefully.

"I'm sure we can scare some up," Inara replies.

X takes the glass, holding it very carefully.

"Thank you."

Beat.

She frowns slightly, thinking back.

"You're welcome."

Inara studies her face again, nodding in reply. "It's quite the place, isn't it? I don't think I ever would have believed it if someone had described it to me back home."

X's expression is impassive.

"I like it."

"As do I."

Inara looks at her questioningly. "Would you like anything else? Something to eat perhaps?"

X stills for a moment, considering.

Then--

"No."

Beat.

"Thank you."

She is not a very good conversationalist. Not at first, anyway.

"Well, if you change your mind, just say the word, sweetie," Inara replies gently. She's used to all kinds and has a soft spot for shy folk.

"Do you celebrate Christmas where you come from? It's not my usual holiday, but I've come to enjoy it since being in Milliways."

X shakes her head.

"I do not."

Her f--teammates might. Some probably do.

She does not know.

Beat.

"What is your usual holiday?"

It's only polite to ask, right?

"I practice Buddhism and at this time of year, we have a celebration called Bodhi Day, but it isn't really anything like Christmas. The closest holiday to that is Visakah Puja, when we celebrate the Buddha's birthday. That takes place in July."

X thinks about this, too.
