Beautifully tragic, or possibly tragically beautiful?

The girl -- no, the young woman enters, deeply engrossed in a book on sorcery. Unfortunately, there's a couch in her path. She trips over it with a mostly-muffled curse and, somehow, lands in a spectacularly tangled pile on the floor. "Ow," she finally says, directing a scowl at the couch. Then she looks around and shakes her head

Dario gives her a very serious look, "You should watch where you're going, missy. Crashing into things hurts."

"I've noticed," she says dryly. "And who are you calling 'missy', boyo? I'm older than you." But she's grinning, all the same.

He laughs and gives her a hug, "Yeah I know. How've you been? Aside from assaulting couches, obviously."

She hugs back, cheerfully enough. "Exploding feathery chairs. My room's been an exciting place lately."

"Maybe you should help out on my next movie, since you seem to be good at blowing shit up."

[iamnotelphie]

"Maybe." She laughs. "And hey, maybe with enough practice I could actually levitate something. That'd be nice."

[bybrokenminds]

"Ooou, there we go. And then I wouldn't have to use strings. That could be really useful. I may have to keep you around."

[iamnotelphie]

She gives him a vague salute. "I'd say call me if you need a wicked witch, too, but Elphaba might not appreciate that."

[bybrokenminds]

-- and that gets a slightly panicked look. "Um -- no. That's cool. I like my limbs where they are, we don't need to piss Elphaba off."

[iamnotelphie]

She pats his cheek and laughs. "That's cute. I don't think she'd dismember you."

[bybrokenminds]

"She hates me. I know it," he whines, looking despondent.

[iamnotelphie]

"No, she doesn't." A hairruffle. "You look like a puppy."

[bybrokenminds]

"I am a puppy. And Elphaba scares me. My tail goes between my legs when I'm around her, it's pathetic."

[iamnotelphie]

"Aw, she's not scary. Not really. Though Papa tends to agree with you on that point."
