They're both soft enough so that only the observant passerby would hear them, but the next statement is a little louder; she's not quite sure this isn't a dream yet, actually. "

Liz's immediate reaction is one of sympathy, because she certainly remembers being more than a bit disgruntled the first time she found her way here. "I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news," she says, apologetically, "but I don't believe this is a dream at all and no one knows how to escape it permanently, whatever it may be."

Well, that pretty much cinches what she's been worried about, since she has no reason to believe that Liz is lying. She pauses for a moment. "I don't think there's any kind of response that I can make that doesn't involve confusion, expletives, or -- well, a combination of the two of them."

So she offers a small, sympathetic smile. "I could hardly blame you for -- well, either, honestly, although the confusion is likely quite a bit more socially acceptable, even in this time period."

"'This' time period? Are you from a different one?"

She pulls a vaguely rueful face for a split-second. "Unfortunately so, yes. Supposedly in the vicinity of two hundred years before this one."

She raises an eyebrow, definitely a lot more surprised than she's letting on. "That's got to be disorienting. So what do you think?"
