So! Jemmy MacKenzie and Pearl were fighting the other day, and the word sodomite came up. Jemmy eventually decided to ask his grandda what the word meant. That probably wasn't the best thing ever to do have done, but here's a log of it. :D

* Jamie has joined #desperatefans
Jemmy> [...Not that Bree and Roger -care- about that. XD]
Mark> *smiles a little* I know, but... well. Things happen. And things change, too. It's a lot more common in my time. *is not going to point out Will's paternity*
Jamie> *wanders into the kitchen, or something*
Suzanne> Well, I would not, at any rate.
Suzanne> And I am to be married shortly.
Jemmy> *peeks out from behind a Suzie and -beams-* Grandda!
Mark> *grins* Yeah? Good for you.
Mark> Will: *knaws on cookie* *Bala's prettier than the Cookie lady.*
Elphaba> Mmmm. Yay. *completely unenthusiastic*
Jamie> *grins* And what new trouble have ye gotten into now?
Mark> *squeezes her hand and gives her a brief 'please don't be antagonistic' look*
Elphaba> Gracie: *cookie!* *My mom is more beautiful than anyone else in the world*
Suzanne> ...Do you like tea, monsieur, madame?
Jemmy> Nothin', Grandda! *displays his cookie*
Mark> Will: *An' my mommy.*
Elphaba> Gracie: *Auntie April is beautiful too*
Elphaba> *sighs*
Mark> Ah, no, that's alright. We'd better get the kids off home. *is just saying that for Elphie's benefit, to get her to more comfortable places*
Jamie> *kneels, still grinning* What's that, then?
Suzanne> Oh. Well, if you are sure. Still, it is a pleasure to meet you.
Elphaba> *realizes this and smiles at him*
Suzanne> And the children are beautiful *smiles at them*
Jemmy> *probably through a mouthful of cookie* 's a cookie, silly. Mlle. de Tournay made it.
Mark> You as well, Mlle de Tournay.
Elphaba> ... right.
Mark> *beams* And thank you. I'll tell Will's mother.
Mark> *gathers up a Gracie*
Jamie> Och, aye. And they're good, are they?
Elphaba> *offers Will a hand*
Suzanne> *smiles at Jamie, glad Jem's found a person he seems to know*
Mark> Will: *toddles*
Elphaba> Gracie: *decides to share her cookie and pokes Mark's mouth with it* *don't think that doesn't mean she still really really wants it*
Mark> *raises his eyebrows* You sure?
Jemmy> Verra good. *and yes, is going to tug Jamie over to Suzie*
Jamie> *tugged, and will give Suzie a grateful grin and a low bow* Mlle. de Tournay, I presume? * -- can speak fluent French if prompted*
Suzanne> *curtsies politely* Oui, c'est moi. I'm afraid I've not had the pleasure...
Elphaba> Gracie: Loff Dee.
Mark> *nibbles* Love you too. Thank you.
Elphaba> Gracie: *giggles happily and munches on it again*
Mark> Will: *babbles at Elphie*
Jamie> James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser. *and will kiss her hand -- and in French, the typist is too lazy to translate* The pleasure, mlle., is entirely mine.
Suzanne> *blushes prettily* Can I get you a cup of tea, monsieur? Or a cookie, perhaps?
Elphaba> *listens attentively* Is that so?
Jamie> Aye, both would be welcome. And thanks are in order for looking after wee Jem.
Jemmy> *offended look* I dinna need looking after.
Suzanne> Oh, but it was a pleasure, monsieur. He is a charming young man *smiles at Jem* Aren't you? *and goes about making tea*
Jemmy> See? 'M -charming-. *^____^*
Mark> Will: *babbles. Somewhat coherantly. On cookies*
Jamie> *laughs* Och, no denying that. After all, ye /are/ my grandson. *winks*
Elphaba> Cookies are wonderful, aren't they?
Elphaba> Gracie: *eating her own*
Mark> Will: Wunnerful.
Suzanne> *pours a cup for Jamie and for herself* Do you want to drink anything, Jem? I'm sure there's juice.
Elphaba> *smiles* New word, duckie?
Mark> Will: *grins* Wunnerful. Bala wunnerful an' pretty.
Jemmy> *perks up* Whisky!
Elphaba> .... *smiles a little, a bit sadly* Hardly, duckie.
Jamie> ...no, no, wee Jem, your mother willna be too pleased with me if I let ye drink that.
Suzanne> I'll get you some apple whiskey then, petit *gives Jamie a wink*
Mark> Will: *sad face, why is Bala sad?* Bala pretty.
Mark> Yes, Balla's pretty. *kisses her cheek* Wonderful and pretty.
Jemmy> *pouts* But Fergus gave me some!
Suzanne> *pours some apple juice* Here you are, petit. A very special kind of apple whiskey. And if you drink that like a good boy, you can have one more cookie.
Jamie> Fergus was a wee terror just like ye, and ye'd best not be telling Bree of that, either. * -- grin at Suzie*
Suzanne> *hands Jamie his tea and offers the cookies*
Jamie> *nods in gratitude and will sip the tea*
Elphaba> *blushes a little* You two...
Elphaba> Gracie: Loff Bah!
Mark> Gracie, Princess, is your Mama pretty?
Elphaba> Gracie: *nods a whole lot*
Jemmy> *is, apparently, going to clamber up on Jamie's lap*
Jamie> *grins and hugs the grandson*
Mark> There, see? Three to one, and you know that April, Yero, and Tibs would be on our side. We win.
Elphaba> You're all biased. How about we go find some strangers and see what -they- have to say?
Suzanne> *are strangers ^_^*
Mark> *brightly* Okay! *goes right back over to the kitchen and sticks his head in* Excuse me, Mlle, but I was wondering if you could resolve a dispute between my wife and I?
Suzanne> Oh, may bien sur! I hope I could help.
Elphaba> -- what? Mark! I wasn't -serious-!
Mark> *grins at her* I was wondering if you would agree that my wife is at least good-looking? She seems to think we're all biased.
Elphaba> -- *scowls*
Elphaba> *and looks Scary*
Elphaba> *yes, intentionally*
Suzanne> *gives her a considering look*
Mark> *sulks* Stop glaring, Elphie, you're trying to bias her!
Jemmy> *aderfsgh SCARY GREEN LADY*
Elphaba> -- I'm not glaring. *glares at the strangers*
Jemmy> *will just be burying his head onna Jamie's shoulder*
Suzanne> *timidly, but being as honest as she can* Yes, I would say she certainly is. I admit, I have not seen many with her..complexion, but it suits her very well. I suppose you could not have such a complexion with the wrong facial structure...
Suzanne> *bites her lip, hoping she didn't say anything too awful*
Mark> *beams* Thank you.
Elphaba> How politically correct. And a lie.
Suzanne> I think, though, she looked far prettier when she smiled. *small smile*
Mark> *grins* I agree.
Jamie> *snuggles a grandson* Should ye no be asleep by now? *grins*
Jemmy> *muffledly* 'M not sleepy!
Elphaba> -- *scowls more* You're not helping.
Mark> *kisses cheek* Smile, love. It makes you prettier.
Elphaba> No. I don't want to.
Mark> *nibbles neck?*
Suzanne> *blushes* I didn't mean to lie. I do think you are.
Mark> There, see? She's a good Victorian lady. She's incapable of lying, practically.
Jamie> Aye, but ye ought to be.
Jemmy> *and will look up now, looking curious* Grandda, what's a sodomite?
Suzanne> *and thankfully didn't hear that*
Jamie> *............................ajfkjfljdfldjldjfldkjflkls -- slightly strangled* ...who's -- been teachin' ye that word?
Mark> *does, though, and chokes a little*
Elphaba> -- *grins at Jemmy*
Jemmy> *thoughtful frown* A girl said it last night. She was callin' Lord John one.
Jamie> *................../afjklfdjdklfjldkjgljdgldvjldfjldjflksjlf/* *and is now totally pale and can't actually manage to speak*
Jemmy> *O_________O* ...Grandda?
Mark> *is dying. Silently*
Elphaba> *trying to hide her laughter*
Suzanne> *confused look*
Mark> Will: *blink* 'Domi-te?
Jamie> It -- *slightly strangled and obviously uncomfortable* It -- isna something ye ought to know of now. It'll be explained to ye when ye're of a better age. *and NOT BY HIM, dammit*
Mark> *DIES in a different way* Oh, god, April'll love that one...
Jemmy> *wibbles a bit and clings* 'M sorry, Grandda.
Elphaba> So long as Gracie doesn't pick it up.
Jamie> *...hugs him tightly* It's all right, wee Jem. But do promise me ye willna speak of it again.
Elphaba> Gracie: *too focused on the cookie*
Mark> Will: *blinkblink* 'odo-mite? *brightly. likes it*
Jemmy> *clingclingwibble* Aye, Grandda.
Mark> *facepalm* April's gonna kill us.
Mark> Will: *brightly* Odo-mite!
Elphaba> Hush, duckie.
Mark> Will: *enjoying this too much* Odo-mite, odo-mite, odo-mite.
Suzanne> *pales as she recognises that word* Mon dieu.
Elphaba> *warningly* William... *and this is The Voice You Don't Mess With*
Mark> Will: *silence, looking cowed* Love pretty Bala? *oh, yeah, he's Roger's.*
Elphaba> Those are good words. Stick with those.
Mark> Will: *beam* Love Bala. *pause* Bala odo-mite?
Mark> *DIESPLUTTERCOUGHGASP*
Suzanne> *will....just go back to her tea, we think*
Elphaba> ....... I'll tell you about that when you're older.
Jemmy> *still clinging and slightly wibbling on the Jamie, yes*
