My last week of work before my vacation!

My new appartment is looking better now. And I finally payed my credit card bill, making me extremely poor. (Anime North expenses + all 4 home appliances) but I'm happy still. Life is good.

I went to the lac St-Pierre last weekend and it was so nice. The place was filled with crazy kite surfers, but I managed to take a few pics without any of 'em in it. (making it look a LOT calmer than it actually was.) (for those who don't know, the Saint-Pierre lake is a part of Saint-Lawrence river where the river gets very wide and forms a lake-like body of water.)

So peaceful. Life is beautiful.

Just a "beach" along St-Lawrence river. Don't even think about taking a swim in there.

Okay, it really looks like I'm looking out at sea here. Hard to imagine I'm just standing along the river in the middle of Quebec. :)

Turning around reminded me that I was indeed in the middle of Quebec and its quiet countryside.

There are so many places around my hometown that I never really noticed until I moved away. Kinda sad when you think about it, but at least, it feels good to rediscover them. :)
Speaking of discoveries, I came across this peculiar plaque in a small park in Pointe-du-Lac telling the tale of some local hero who saved Trois-Rivières from an invading american battalion...

Here's what this plaque says. (as roughly translated by yours truly. Sue me, I'm not a good translator.)

On june 7th, 1776, a 1800 man strong army from Boston, under the command of General Thompson, got off ship here, hoping to take the post of Trois-Rivières by surprise during the night. Antoine Gauthier was forced to guide them there. Secretely, he informed his wife, Josephte Girard, of this mission, and asked her to go warn general Simon Fraser, commander of the Trois-Rivières garrison. Antoine proceeded to delay the american army through the forests of Pointe-Du-Lac and the slopes of Sainte-Marguerite. The people at Trois-Rivieres were able to ready themselves and to surprise the attackers back, leading them to an harsh defeat.

Thanks to Antoine Gauthier and his wife, Trois-Rivières continued its history, proud of a great victory, the one from june 8th 1776.

Wow. I didn't know we had heroes like this in Quebec. Death to the American Army!! XD
I always considered Canadian history to be uneventful and boring, but I couldn't be more wrong. I need to get more seriously into it.

Wheee! Only a few days left before my vacation... and less than two weeks before Kit (morningglory42) comes visit me! This is gonna be oh-so-great! ^__^
