i would say that the week has been an interesting one! ive had too much sleep, and am feeling very lazy about it!! grrr...
I went into the print room on monday to print my lino off.... FINISHED IT SATURDAY NIGHT AFTER LIKE 10 hours! on that day... took me about 100 hours in total...
anyways i went to college to print it...the guy said that he didn't have a press big enough to print it but said i might be able to print it in two parts, or try foundation as they have a larger press...
i brought the massive paper, was carrying my laptop/sketchbook in a shoulder laptop bag thing. and also i was carrying the lino.. i just about managed and had to walk up hill then down again (trip took like 10 mins) anyways they had sold the press so it was a waisted journey grr...
i got outside and was really struggling to carrying everything. i put everything down to adjust myself.. then this Girl asks if i need some help and asked where i was going, i said woodlane and she was also going that way, so carried the big sheets of paper for me, such a help and i thanked her loads, shes in third year photography, talked on the way, really nice person, seemed to be very sociable and saw like 5 people at different points on the way to college. anyway she detoured the long route to help me get to the print studio, i thanked her again and said i was fine from the door, i had taken enough liberties as it was, so she handed me back the paper, she asked my name and i asked hers Fay... and i shook her hand and said bye cheers again!!!
great when someone helps kinda of made my day really, as i like it when people do acts of kindness like that, i know it was not much but if more people did little acts of kindness like that everything would be cool.
so printed 6 prints out, and then they dried... took two days to dry..
tuesday night i went to Jons house as it was Emma's birthday, i stopped by the trelawnie boy's house first though, and chilled with them for a bit, then we made our way... hugged and said happy birthday to emma when we arrived, then went through to the kitchen, lucky for me i spotted rich, and the guys went outside with the smokers, rich had brought gin and ginger bear, and made me one, i dont normally drink but had decided recently i need to sometimes have just a few... so yea i had like three, lucky for me over a bit of time so felt not so much effect. talked for ages. went up in the loft a few hours later, and the trelawnie boys were up there with Jon and some other people i didn't know. i talked with the guys about our Amsterdam trip which is basically where we all got to know each other, and we had some fun talking about that.
Then i talked with mole about the whole scuba thing. im going to be trying to get some sciba gear together over the summer, and they are getting a boat! so yea hope to be doing a lot of scuba diving. great thing one diver here in falmouth is meant to be like the second best coastal dive in England!!!... so yea getting excited about that.
i had to leave early as i had my assessment the next day, ha Sophie moles girlfriend gave me a hug goodbye, people seem to hug quite a lot down here which im getting used to doing!. Ha kind of funny, in easter when i was back home, or it could have been christmas! anyway i bumped into sarah who i had not seen in at least a year and just hugged her and said so how are you doing great to see you. had then she was surprised i think, and ha i was too...funny how things like that are picked up.. mannerisms!!!!!
so anyways got up for the assessment, got to college collected my prints which were dry and took them to the studio which my lino also., haha well i was waiting for the assessment, and people and tutors kept coming over and complimenting me on my work, everyone just couldn't seem to believe it, ha that was quite a good feeling i must say after all the work i put into it.
two of the tutors were stood looking at it. and said i should send a print to alan Kitchen, who is like a very famous guy, and see if i can get some work experience with him,. they said i would definitely stand a good chance on getting a placement to work with him! man would that be amazing!...so anyways the assessment comes up! i show Isabelle my tutor, and she was very much liking my map, and wanted to know if she could take it away to photograph!!.. so she did and a print too...
anyways the rest of the assessment did not go brilliant, basically because i had not presented the rest of my work to her. one thing i did find funny was a comment she made. she was talking about my organization skills, and she said! its not exactly like your dyslexic or anything, and carried on saying stuff, i waited for her to stop talking and said..umm but i am dyslexic remember i brought the report to you (which she didnt read as she said she would get one soon and for me to hold onto it) oh yea she said. then i said but yea thats no excuse at all im not using it as an excuse i just wanted to remind you though on the dyslexia.....
one thing she said which really did annoy me..she said i need to start looking at more graphic design, and that work i was doing. so she meant the map, was more art. and that im not studying art, im studying graphic design which is problem solving, she said i need to look in more magazines, i felt myself kind of welling up a bit when i replied, i did not show the emotion i was feeling i hope, but i responded with a passion, i said that im doing what i love to do, i always am looking around me, noticing changes in the world, reading things, looking at all the design magazines i can, just because i cant express that in my development work doesn't mean i do not do it. i just hate being judged like it felt like she was doing. grrrrr...
i work soooo hard. i just dont do commercial design, and will not do it whilst im on the course, nope i would rather fail the course then do that, which wouldn't happen but all im saying is thats how passionate i am about the work i do. i would sacrifice the degree for my belief in what i do. we had a guest speaker, yea a fine art guest speaker, but i agreed with what he said, which was that art college is a time for experimenting as much as possible, which is what im trying to do. constraints we have in the real world when we finish college we just dont have now...... bleh im not describing my thoughts very well but i know what i mean.
anyway i have passed the year, i just got to go to a class tomorrow and talk with the tutor and show him i can print something with crop marks and im done. so pointless as its soo damn easy, but got to be done. anyway so i got home wednesday and went to the beach with rose and steph!! we went into the sea which was freezing, i didn't stay in it too long as i could feel it on my arm joints felt like they were getting stiff, and my fingers were inching which is normally a sign they will swell..
so i got home watched neighbors in stephs room with rosie and steph... then i went to my room and chilled out for the night...
today i slept pretty much all day till three. chilled out for ages, then got ready for a graphic design BBQ at college and left. i stopped off at the trelawnie boys house on the way, they were chilling in the garden and said they were not going, mike also had work to do for friday so said he wasn't going.
so i said my goodbyes and went to college. lucky for me Jon was there and i talked with him then he went for a smoke outside, where we sat and talked for a while, then emma joined us.. we all got cold so went inside. then they went a joined the cue for burgers, whilst i was buying a drink from the bar. ha quite funny i asked for a tea which lucky for me they had. i really really needed it as my hands were itching and i really really did not want them to swell..so yea ha Jon and the girls he was cueing up with found it funny i had tea, when everyone was holding a beer. so we got our burger..i started chatting with christian. and got a hot dog.....
so an hour or so later i was sitting with christian and a few others inside waiting for the band to start playing. i went and got another tea, for free this time as i knew the barman. WAHOOOOOO!! free tea.. anyways ha the girls/guys on the table found it funny was drinking tea which was cool.... so yea stayed there till like 22:30, then went to toms.. TOM! tom had been working for like the past month on a project on his computer! and last night his computer stops working hes sending it away to get fixed but it might come back without the data apparently!! AHHHHHHHH... i felt bad for im wished him all the luck came back here... looked in adams room to see if Adam was there. Cheuky was there she said she had just been sitting in his room for like three hours not doing anything waiting for him to come back. so i chatted with her for a while, adam came back.. anyways in his room for a few hours.. then i have come to my room watched a film and am now writing this.. tomorrow i will be going to eds print thing and then wil be done pretty much.,.... i still have to think of a dissertation question though!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.. kk adios!
