This wasn't very much fun to fill out. But next year seems like it is going to be wonderful.

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
A non-serious relationship that doesn’t suck. An off-the-hook handstand. Writing for writing’s sake. Lifted weights. Grew a stupid beard. Starred in a movie. Road trip to Colorado. Had non-bad dreams. Had good dreams. Watched a Woody Allen movie. Other things I’m sure.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t think I made any last year. This next year I would like to try and be more honest. And to continue on my path to greatness. To be a bit softer or harder on myself as needed. To get into great shape. To not hurt anyone if I can help it.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.

5. What countries did you visit?
France, Germany, and England.

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Love (how fucking emo and stupid is that?). More compassion, more free time and more fun. Less personal disappointment.

7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I’m not very good with dates. But June 3rd was pretty fucked up. That’s when I found out those things about Erin and my life cracked in two.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I am really proud of my academic achievements this year. I have learned so much, and improved so much, and maintained the grades to prove it. “I’m on my grind cousin.”

9. What was your biggest failure?
I guess something in that whole Erin debacle. I should have seen it coming, I guess. Or avoided it, or something. I dunno. It sucked so bad and I can’t help but think it was my fault. Or tossing myself under a bus in a well lit parking lot with Runi. I saw that shit coming and just couldn’t do anything about it. Eh.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Mental illness. I slept it off, like I do.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
New speakers when my old ones broke? I dunno. My bathroom scale? Hand wraps so I could start boxing again.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, and eating out because I didn’t have time to cook.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Trimble’s class? Runi.

16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
I don’t really like thinking of music like that. Maybe “Sally” by Bilal. But not really. “Three Nights in Rio” by Wyclef was a big song for me this year. So was “I’ll Stay” by Roy Hargrove and D’angelo.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier or sadder - Sadder.
Older or wiser - Both.
Thinner or fatter? - Heavier, but it’s stronger, not fatter.
Richer or poorer? - Poorer? I dunno. I am always borderline poor.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Sleep, sing, basketball, laugh, kiss.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Hurt, brag, lie, curse from anger.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
At home. With family and not with Erin.

22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
Twice. With Erin, and with Runi. Does that make me a flake? Maybe. But, I can’t front, it was real.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Pardon the Interruption.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I dunno about hate. I don’t hate anyone really. There are a few folk I could hate. I don’t though.

26. What was the best book you read?
Umm. I’m thinking “Bird by Bird” by Anne Lamott, but not because it’s some great book. More because of when I read it and what it helped me do.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
This is always so hard. I dunno. Djembe? It’s never a musician or anything like that. I listen to so much music that this is damn near impossible. Maybe Roy Hargrove.

28. What did you want and get?
Through my tough semesters with new friends.

29. What did you want and not get?
The girl. A couple of times.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I watched so many Woody Allen films this year. I think Hannah’s Sisters. I also liked/hated Closer. Also “Burnt by the Sun,” and “Come and See.”

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned in papers. I was 22. After that I dunno what I did. I worried about turning in more papers.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Some sort of internal validation. Alone time that wasn’t just waiting or preparing for company again.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
Dope as shit. I was dressy casual and the women-folk seemed impressed.

34. What kept you sane?
Structure. Either in school or in crazy workout schedules.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Oh I am not one of these people who knows the answer to this question. Natalie Portman I guess. She’s cute. Rosario Dawson can get it.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Katrina.

37. Who did you miss?
My Parents. And Runi.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I guess it was Runi. But that stings. Steph, and Parth and Sid and Kendle and Daniel and Jerry were all really great too.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:
“Keep it close to the vest, Son.”
“You can hold your breath through this.”

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
”Sally wasn’t nothing but I treated her like something, low down dirty and I never saw it coming”
