R E L A T I O N S H I P S
RUSSIA
Russia is Ukraine's brother, and he will always be her brother before anything else. She's cared for him since he only came up to her knees and clung to her skirts, and it's impossible for her to forget the adorable boy he was, because to her he still is that boy deep down. So it's heartbreaking to find that in Discedo he's stuck in the years of the Soviet Union, because she has no idea what to do about it. His own actions aren't making things any easier on her, especially his desire to have her rejoin...
JAPAN
Back home Ukraine has wonderful relations with Japan, and she's very grateful to him for helping keep her economy afloat. Here Japan is from a time when he was fighting with her brother, an antagonism that seems to have carried over into Discedo. She respects that Japan told her about this upfront, and is incredibly grateful that he understands that she is neither from that time or interested in getting involved. To her he's the same Japan, really, and as such is fair game to nice thank-you gifts and other things.
PORTGAS D. ACE
A very nice young man who is easy to talk with. Ukraine liked that he didn't seem interested in forcing his way into personal matters, and would very much like to speak with him more.
SWEDEN
Sweden is fairly terrifying, and sometimes this daunts Ukraine quite a bit. However, he's also one of the few people no distracted by her farmland and she knows that deep down he's a nice person. He's from a time long before relations were established between their countries, but Ukraine doesn't mind building what tenuous friendship they had again.
HATSUHARU SOHMA
Haru is capable of throwing Ukraine off her train of thought repeatedly. Sometimes the things he says and the way he says them are enough to make her worry that she's offended him somehow. Most of the time it turns out that he's joking. He's very sweet, if a bit spacey. She thinks of him as a dear friend, and enjoys talking with him despite the frequent miscommunications.
GERMANY
In the past Germany has been the cause of much hardship and suffering for Ukraine, but the past is the past and in the present time they have a much better relationship. He seems a little unnerved by her, which she doesn't understand and attributes to the situation they're all in. A nice, dependable friend who can always be counted on to be another sane person.
CANADA
Americaaaa- wait, no. Canada holds a very special place in her heart, being a close friend and ally from home. Even though she still has difficulty distinguishing him from his twin, Ukraine is trying to get better about it and remembers (mostly) everything else about him. She loves talking with him and will never turn down spending time together.
DENMARK
Sob. Denmark is blunt, loud, and often misses the point of conversations by miles. Ukraine is never sure what to say to him, because he throws her so many curveballs she ends up disoriented and more timid than usual. He seems to be disconcertingly fixated on her chest, and accidentally exposing herself on the comms did nothing to alleviate that. For all that she continues to think he's a genuinely nice person, if one who causes migraines and should be dealt with only when aspirin is on hand.
JONATHAN CARNAHAN
A smooth talker! Ukraine likes discussing history, mummies, and drinks with Jonathan. He seems to enjoy laying compliments on her and that embarrasses her to no end, but it also makes her think of him as a very sweet man.
TONY TONY CHOPPER
TINY REINDEER FRIEND. Ukraine loves Chopper ridiculous amounts - she thinks he's adorable, sweet, and just a wonderful person to know. He worries almost as much as she does, which is a reassuring thing to know exists. She's looking forward to teaching medicine classes together with him.
FALKNER
Ukraine doesn't know anything about those Pokemon games Japan made, and as such is completely reliant on Falkner for information about his world. He's a calm man whose obvious care for his birds make him very endearing to her. She likes that he doesn't mind her peppering him with questions, because his world fascinates her to no end.
ATOLI
Atoli, despite thinking Ukraine was a vampire at first, is a peppy little ray of sunshine. Ukraine loves peppy little rays of sunshine, and she loves Atoli. Despite trying her best to keep up hope, it's easy to crush her spirits. Atoli helps remind Ukraine of why she's trying to be so optimistic in the first place, and she's grateful for it.
MIRIA HARVENT
Miria makes Ukraine's head hurt as much as Denmark and almost as much as her own family, which is quite a feat. She seems to be missing more than a few cards to make the full set, and barely tunes into conversations. For all her space-case actions, she seems to be a perfectly friendly person, so Ukraine continues talking with her. Somehow she feels that if she didn't there wouldn't be anyone to explain what's really happening...
