Well, we went out to see the lunar eclipse last night and got more than we expected...
The whole lunar eclipse event was completely upstaged by a wonderful auroral outbreak...
I've tried to do the aurora some justice. It's rather hard to take anything approaching a decent photo at night with the little point-and-shoot digital we have.
These are my very amateur attempts to adjust gamma, hue, brightness, contrast and such in order to bring out a visible photo. (you can't really even see anything in the raw image)
It all looks a pale green wash, but we did have some rather vibrant reds and yellows that just don't come through in the pictures. I managed to pull a little bit of the color out in a couple of these.
Oh yeah, the moon. We took about twenty eclipse photos. One almost came out.
Not a problem -just put the camera down and enjoyed the show.
