That's supposed to be me!

I don't generally do New Year's Resolutions, but I've made one this year. Yes, I have the room that's supposed to the be creative haven but in actuality is the repository of all stuff I'm too hurried to deal with. This year, I resolve to clean up my room (which is incidentally also where we stash guests who are staying over, as well as being the home for eight birds when the guests aren't here!) and dedicate 15 minutes per day to its maintenance.
The thought process is this: this is supposed to be MY room. The fact that I neglect it in care of every other room in the house demonstrates my attitude toward myself ... the needs of the others in the family, and ourselves as a family unit, always receive priority. HOWEVER... I need to honor myself as myself. I can certainly give myself fifteen minutes per day, can't I? Even if the laundry needs folding...
So far, I'm not keeping my resolution. We're HOW MANY days into the new year? Typical, eh? But I've not got the room cleaned yet. The wild creatures at the Nature Center neeeeeeed me right now. It's a life-n-death-for-small-furred-or-feathered-persons situation, and I'll not be able to create while their needs are preying on me.
So tomorrow's my big day, with the rest of the Palmer Planet joining me for purge 'n scrub the rest of the house over the weekend. Soon, my friend, I will be joining you in sparkly clean tidiness!
(And I got most of the melted crayon out of the dryer after about three hours work yesterday, so I THINK I should give myself credit for that, too.) (We had all three primary colors in there, so you can just imagine.)
