Cake Walk

Jun 07, 2004 10:20

Not a lot to say today.
I can say this.
I made my first “guitar cake”.
Grandpa’s birthday party was this past weekend at Mom’s, so I knew I’d finally come to the perfect moment for my first guitar-cake attempt. It went fairly well (I think) for my first go at “officially decorating” a cake. It’s not as easy at it looks, folks.
Here are the before and after pics:

Here’s after removing it from the pan. I know this seems silly, but I’d never baked a cake in a shaped cake-pan mold thing before. I was pleased that it didn’t crumble or stick and popped out like a dream.

Don’t look too closely, but here’s the decorated end-result. Note my classy tin-foil tray. I didn’t have a cake carrier or decent presentation platter the right size, so I had to do what I had to do. You understand.

Grandpa loved it. We sang Happy Birthday, he made a wish, he blew out his candles.

Mom was paranoid about “mussing the cake” by cramming candles in the sound-hole on the cake-guitar, and I said simply, “Don’t FRET!!”
Corny. I know. I crack myself up.

Anyway - more posting later, perhaps.

Oh, goddamn - I got my SS&BL CD and my Live EP (signed and personalized!!) and my posters in the mail. Picked them up this
morning. Very cool. Jay thanked me for all the help with the photos.

Consider me PAID IN FULL.

Now, what next?
Who the hell knows.
First goal is to get through this day and remember to stay on my medication.
