Premonition

Despite all the bad reviews, Robin and I decided that we still wanted to go see Premonition, so tonight we did. I don't agree with most of the reviews. I only have one complaint (though it is a biggie): Continuity.

I enjoyed the entire movie up until the last minute. That's when I noticed Continuity Error #2. It's also when Robin realized Error #1 and pointed it out to me (it actually occurred much earlier but went unnoticed due to the days in the movie occurring out of order).

Continuity Error #1: The older daughter falls through the sliding door on Tuesday. On Wednesday, her face is covered in scars and stitches. On Thursday, her face is perfect. On Friday, the scars and stitches are back.

Continuity Error #2: We have no idea what day the last day is, but when Linda wakes up, she's in her bed and not the asylum. Judging by the daughter's scaring, it was at least a week. Why the skip? How did she convince them she wasn't crazy?

I can see why they broke continuity with the scars. It would be too much for the first minute of the movie, and works better before the funeral. They really should have tried to figure out either another day have her fall or another plot point altogether where they wouldn't have to break continuity at all.

Like so many other movies, the concept was awesome but the follow-through was lacking. Could have been so much better.
