SUBJECT/POSITION: History/HS1-3
RESIDENCE: Faculty Complex
APPEARANCE: Keine is around 5'5", with a shapely build. She wears her silver-blue hair long, in a hime-cut, and is never seen without her blue tokin hat. Her usual attire is a blue dress, trimmed with lace at the bottom and with a red ribbon at her chest, with a short-sleeved white blouse underneath. Her shoes are black with red bows.
PERSONALITY: Keine actively goes out of her way to be friendly, even if that friendliness is a touch on the cool side. As she was largely a model student growing up, the kind that didn't get in trouble, did everything right, and didn't brag about it, she developed the reputation for being a wise and kind, if straight-laced, person. She loves her work, and while she's indeed intelligent, she prefers to share that knowledge, rather than hoard it.
She also has a protective streak a mile wide. The minute she senses something is off, she makes it her duty to protect the ones that are affected. This protective streak that she has extends to all those around her, even when she's feeling a bit stressed. Even during those few days a month where she's always more stressed than usual, she still prioritizes protecting those who are close to her. (In canon, this is shown by the way she actively attacks the game's heroines in order to protect
a close friend.)
That said, while she's generally friendly and hospitable, she does not like people who don't show her what she considers proper respect. This includes failing to greet her in passing, and it especially extends to students that fail to turn in their homework or fall asleep in class. Those students will quickly find themselves with chalk being thrown at them, or worse, a headbutt.
COMPUTER APTITUDE: Middle of the road; she mainly uses the internet for research, e-mail, and a bit of online shopping (her Amazon wishlist is huge), so nothing terribly advanced, but she knows what she's doing.
AU HISTORY: Keine was raised in Kyoto, Japan, a family of educators: her father taught mathematics, and her mother literature, though her mother left the classroom in order to raise her. They were a close family, and encouraged their daughter's love of reading and her interest in history. Thanks to family money and a close family relationship with the Fujiwara family, the young Keine spent her school vacations traveling and studying. By the time she graduated high school, she had spent time in mainland Asia, Europe, and the United States, and was fluent in Japanese, French, and English.
Despite all this, she still found the time to give back, and her interest in following in her parents' footsteps took root during all of this. She found her passion for teaching when she began tutoring her fellow students, taking to it like a duck to water. Soon, friends of the family began to ask her to tutor their kids, and it was during this time she formed a particularly close bond with one particular girl - one that would come back into play later in life.
She graduated at the top of her class, and at her parents' behest, attended university in the city. She graduated at the age of twenty-one, and upon her graduation, applied and was accepted to a two-year post-graduate course in education and history in Paris. During her time in the city, she applied to a number of schools for teaching positions, and was quickly hired by Reims, where she has taught for two years.
Her time at the school has recently grown a bit more interesting, as she was contacted by her old family friends, the Fujiwara family. They had a 'problem child' on their hands, and as Keine had been a model student herself, thought that she might have a better influence on Mokou. It made sense, given their past closeness, back when Keine was just her tutor. The girl has been under her care since...
JUSTIFICATION: Mythologically speaking, the hakutaku are a class of youkai that serve as advisors and teachers to virtuous rulers. They are very wise, well-read, and even-tempered. In Japanese tradition, they have appeared to emperors explaining how to deal with other youkai in order to protect the people.
In canon, Keine is a teacher to the children in the Human Village. While it's said her classes are occasionally a bit boring, and she can be quite a strict disciplinarian, she's welcome in the village. She tends to stay calm and truly cares for her students, even if they occasionally earn a headbutt. She serves as the village's protector as well as its historian, and as such, she's a very natural fit as a teacher.

Good morning, everyone. This is just a brief reminder to my students of important deadlines.
High schoolers: first years, please remember that your projects on the Italian Renaissance are due tomorrow. Be prepared to present to the class tomorrow or Wednesday.
Second years, you have an exam on Friday, concerning the material in chapters 20-24 of the textbook. I will be holding a review session on Wednesday afternoon, and I encourage you to attend.
Seniors who are enrolled in my Asian History elective: your essays on the impact of Admiral Perry's arrival in Japan are due on Thursday.
Thank you, and have an excellent week.
LOG/3RD PERSON SAMPLE:
The paperwork never ended when one was a teacher, but Keine didn't mind. She was rather set in her routine, wanting to be on top of it at all times. At the moment, she was in the middle of grading the first-years' projects on the Italian Renaissance, the papers, art projects, and presentations. While she generally wasn't one for technology, right now, she was all too appreciative of the webcam on her classroom computer. It had allowed her to record all the presentations, making grading that much easier.
One after the other, she replayed the students' work, making notes as she sipped tea. She prided herself on being objective, and was able to do so with the vast majority of her students. She sipped at a cup of green tea as she took notes and entered grades, one after the other. It might be a bit old-fashioned, but the red pen in her hand felt more natural for this than taking notes strictly on the computer. Of course, she would enter all her work into the system, but that could be done later.
One particular student's work appeared on her screen, then - art, a stylized representation of the concept as a whole. In that moment, she found it harder than usual to be objective...that could be a problem, if she let it.
