Throughout the series, we are introduced to many weird and bizzare characters. The one unique thing that sets every character in Medaka Box apart other than their abilities is their personalities. Medaka herself is unique for having love for all of humanity and helping everyone in sight, Kei is unique because he has an impulse to kill everyone, yet he does not want to kill everyone and even Misogi is a unique villain because his personality is twisted beyond belief and everything he says is entirely a lie. But the most unique and mysterious character of all is Hansode. One of the reasons why she's so interesting is because we, as the audience, have no idea of what she's actually thinking. Hansode's own actions throughout the series have been entirely for her own amusement. There is truly only one word to describe Hansode. She is spontaneous, spontaneous, spontaneous. Hansode is an extremely whimsical individual, but for all we know? That could be a ploy to throw people off from her true intentions.
Sometimes, she'll go from playful to dead serious in a heartbeat and seeing the serious side of Hansode can be scary and uncomfortable. A brief moment in this would be when Hansode is confronting Medaka in the hallway and Medaka asks her to join her Student Council. Not only does Hansode flat out rejects Medaka, she even goes out of her way to say that she dislikes her and Hansode states that's she was fully aware of Medaka disliking her as well. Later on, we learn that the reasoning behind Hansode's hostility towards Medaka is because of Medaka's extraordinary personality. While Medaka always helps others and tries to understand everyone, Hansode only helps out when she feels like it's appropriate. And even then, she's not always direct with assisting. When Medaka and Zenkichi were going to take down the 13 Party, Hansode tells Akune and Kikaijima to tag along with them. Hansode even knew about Medaka and Zenkichi's training beforehand. This shows how Hansode is very smart perspective than she lets on. Somehow, Hansode manages to know everything that happens from behind this scenes.
Another weird trait of Hansode is her disturbing sense of humor. One example would be when she and Zenkichi are fulfilling a request from a student to capture their dog from them. Hansode describes the dog as an innocent looking puppy, but the dog in reality looked exactly like a wolf. Right after that, Hansode tells Zenkichi her ridiculous plan to capture the dog: She gives Zenkichi some sausages, tells him to stuff them into his shirt and have the dog pounce on him. When Zenkichi actually does it, Hansode sits back and takes pictures of the moment. Before the moment happens, Hansode even goes out of her way to tell Zenkichi that she would must rather sit back and watch her friends get mauled from a safe distance than actually go and help them out. Now this brings us to another point. While Zenkichi was doing it for Hansode's amusement, it was apparent that Zenkichi seems to be the only one who can actually influence and tame Hansode. The reasons behind this are unknown, but it's apparent that Hansode may possibly have romantic feelings for Zenkichi.

--I gotta thank Mommy dearest for filling my bag with so many snacks! Animal crackers, apples, oranges-- Ayahaha! I think I'm more loaded than a village! Although knowing my huuuge stomach, I'll have to restock when I reach the next town.
I hate running long distances, so I'll just take my time. After all, I can ride Buffet whenever I get tired. Right Buffet? [The Wobbuffet starts to sweat and gives a meek nod. Hansode gives it a friendly slap on the back.] Ayahaha! ♥ You're wonderful, Buffet! A Pokemon has to look after its trainer and vice versa, right? For that, I'll let you have one-fourth of my animal crackers whenever we start eating~! ☆
Third Person Sample:
Every trainer that left Cherrygrove always had a heart set with adventure. Maybe their plan was to become the greatest Pokemon Master of all time. Or maybe their plan was to breed as many Pokemon as they could and open a daycare center. Hansode Shiranui just so happened to be one of those trainers. While her goal wasn't exactly clear, she was certainly hungry.
"Mmmm~! These cookies are delicious! ☆" She said with a tone filled with glee. Right before leaving her house, her mother had baked her some delicious farewell cookies and packed her bag with all sorts of snacks that she had desired. One of the quickest ways to win over Hansode's heart was to win over her stomach. If you could tame that, then she would do anything for you. ... Or so you think.
"Even though you keep saying we're related, I don't think we look all that much alike." She giggled. Her mother simply smiled along as if she was always knew Hansode's thought processes. This girl was always looking for ways to amuse herself and to cause lots of trouble. As the blue-haired girl hopped out of her chair, she spinned herself around in a whimsical fashion. "Well, whatever! I can play along with this game for now!"
After taking her bag of supplies and snacks off the table, Hansode skipped over to the door and hummed a happy tune along the way.
"Hehe... Please wish your cute and lovely daughter luck on her dangerous adventure! ♥ If something goes wrong, you've got child support on me, riiight?" Her voice sounded innocent, but the smile on her face was anything but that. Devious and dangerous... The woman had to wonder how did she ended up raising such a scary girl.
With that said, Hansode skipped her way over to the Pokemon lab. Whoever was going to be her first Pokemon companion was going to be in for one long ride.
