Now who am I supposed to be rooting for...?

Aw man, now the American soccer team is also kicked out of the World Cup! Crap! I prayed so hard for them... (And I was more confident than when I watched Switzerland playing, believe me.) Not to mention that I quickly created something I could hold up instead of an American flag:

So did mine... and surprisingly enough (since I'm anything but really fond of soccer), I nearly cried too when the game was over. My parents watched the match in a pub in Scotland, and as soon as it was over, my Mom wrote me an SMS saying: "Shit!" That was all. And I agreed.

I was proud too. My only worry is that the media might "tear them apart" (literally translated German expression, hope it's not too weird), because I hate it when athletes try really hard, but if they don't make it, they're failures according to the media. One day you're the hero, and the next... Well, you know. I bet the popularity of soccer in the US would have gotten quite a boost if they had made it to the next round. Hmm... maybe that will happen anyway to a certain extent, and otherwise we'll just have to see how the team fares at the next WC in 4 years ;)

Ooh, I wouldn't get up that early either (had the same problem a couple of years ago when I watched Formula 1)... Here in Switzerland, the first game is aired at 4 PM, and the evening game is aired at 8.30 PM, so that's convenient.

Really, you'd be hoping for Germany? I mean, of course you're entitled to your opinion, don't get me wrong... I guess the main reason I want basically anyone BUT the Germans to win is that the Germany-Switzerland relationship is a bit... rocky. The Germans lost against Serbia, though - on that day, on my way to work, there were many cars with Serbian fans driving around the city, honking their horns like crazy. It got annoying very quickly, lemme tell you that -.-

I'll do my best to get it done (can you guess who's gonna be watching the game with Alfred?) ^^ There's still so much I need to do, though: tidy the house, pack my stuff, study... and straighten my hair, but I'll try to hop to it tonight anyway ;) Do you think I could afford to wait until Tuesday to get it done and post it, though, just in case?

Oh, you don't need to apologize at all! I had troubles uploading my "Go USA!" picture to my LJ gallery, and sometimes the Internet does seem to be oddly slow... so yeah, I'm totally cool with it. Please don't feel any pressure about replying to me, 'kay?
He is? Well, we're not talking about dirty things, now, are we? :D Jk, I... accept your concerns. I'm not exactly a maternal animal, so I prefer not to discuss what's appropriate for kids and what's not because usually nobody agrees with me. *shrugs*

Yeah, it's 1 AM now, but I'm still wide awake. Heck, I didn't fall asleep until at least 4.30 AM last night... I'll be dead meat next week, wanna bet?

Lol, I hardly ever have something interesting to say (I'll try not to bitch too much, though), but I'm still happy that you're looking forward to more entries from me! I gotta check out some more features here... like, for example, if I can receive a notice if one of my friends posted an entry... *hint hint* XD

Yeah, too often teams are deemed failures because of the simple truth that they didn't win. Despite the USA getting the boot, to me they are winners! Also, 'tear them part' isn't at all weird, even if it's a direct translation. Actually, I think it may have weaseled its way into English under the guise of "rip them to shreds". Heck if I know, really! Though, I always do love to learn new sayings, especially ones from different countries.

I figured out how to get alerts when people update their journals! While I got my livejournal account last September (I think), I will admit to being completely unable to maneuver the site very well, so even now I am learning. Anyway, to get updates when someone posts a new journal entry, you go to their profile after friending them and click "track user". It gives you a few options as to what you'd like to do, but for the most part it's pretty straightforward.

Let's see, as for your World Cup fic, might I chance a venture to think that Ivan will be the one watching with him? Heck, you just know Alfred will need a good bit of fluff himself to get over that loss (it still smarts even now, I tell you).

Pity, isn't it? It was the same thing in the Alpine World Ski Championships - one day, a Swiss dude won a race and was a hero, but he didn't do so well in the next one, and then the papers said that he's "losing his touch" and shit. Same thing with Roger Federer (tennis)... I'm really sick of it, and I always think: "Give them a break, for heaven's sake! They're just human..."
But yeah, you're right, we shouldn't be concerned about what the papers say about all of this, but rather how WE perceived it. I hope they'll do even better in the next WC! (Ooh, and today England plays against Germany... crap, not when I need to go back to my apartment! I think I'll watch the match here at home and leave AFTER the game - there were two hilarious newspaper articles about the one-sided rivalry going on between those two nations in soccer. It just screamed Hetalia, but I don't think I could write anything about it, and I've still got a mini-project to finish ;) All I can say is: if Arthur wins this, he will finally be a happy (soccer) camper again! ^_^

Ah, thank you very much for pointing that out! I changed my settings right away, because unless I receive such notifications, I'm fairly bad at keeping track of such things ^^;

The candidate gets 100 points! Hoo boy, that he will. Can't you just picture him getting all riled up, and then... that bitter disappointment... I wish Ivan had been there for me too yesterday. Meh, a stuffed unicorn and my cat were dandy substitutes too, I suppose. I blame it all on the Coke: you see, I was drinking a bottle of Coke, and there was just one more glass to go, but then, sometime after the 100-minute mark, I managed to knock it over and spill it all over the rug, my shoes and - worst of all - the "Go USA!" pic I had made! Bad omen, I tell you! (After the game, I accidentally knocked a glass off the counter, and there were glass shards everywhere... I was very unlucky last night.)
