Oh dear, folks... I'm reverting into my grumpy-old-woman mode so often that I'm really concerned. I think I might have just about reached the peak of what I can take. What you can take about what, you might ask? Well, I'm talking about the peacefulness of our neighborhood, which admittedly has been on the decline for several years now, but especially over the course of the past two or three years, I'm truly realizing how much worse it's getting. If I wouldn't love my parents so much, I would have long since been desperately searching for another place to stay so I could escape this neighborhood, especially in the summer.
How bloody annoying is it that as soon as the days become longer and warmer, the nights are likely to be filled not with the sounds of hooting owls and the rustling of the trees, but instead by that hellish sound these little motorcycles make... mopeds? Or mofas? I keep getting those terms confused, but basically, I mean these motorized vehicles that many teenagers like to acquire so they can go ridin'. *snort* I hope they all fall down and break their necks, and I'm serious. Mom even told those [insert incredibly obscene term here] that they should please be more considerate of people who live here, and that we might want some peace and quiet before 10 pm. Hmpf, go figure that they wouldn't be impressed. I wish they would have been, though (or that they'd use their common sense, presuming that they have any to begin with), because it's getting harder and harder for me to push aside these fantasies of littering the road out back with nails and other nasty stuff so they'll puncture their tires and hopefully end up hurting themselves. I even wished I could shoot at them, or at least fire a warning shot so they'll break camp and leave us the fuck heck alone! And even though it might be pointless, I am just about to write (or even try to talk directly) to the mayor or some other high dude that runs our town, because if they'd be taking their jobs seriously, they'd at least try to keep their promises and ensure that their citizens aren't being deprived of their rights... *growls*
(As for those peace-disrupting goons: they had better stay away from our neighborhood tonight, because I need to work tomorrow, which means I'll need to get up early, and if I don't get a proper sleep... next time, I might end up actually going up to them and demanding that they behave more considerately. Because trust me, there will be a next time. It's just a matter of time. -.-)

*breathes deeply several times*
Now that that rant is out of the way, I shall move on to happier subjects.

Lol, I feel like I'm doing a tour of my home country, given how many outings I've been on in the past one or two weeks. Seriously; compared to how often I usually go on outings, this is like I'm going someplace every single day! By the end of summer vacation, I predict I will have gone to the Säntis (a mountain), Swiss minatur (again) and Sea Life (soon); in the meantime, I've been to Lugano and the zoo in Basel. Now, on one hand I didn't see anything in the zoo that couldn't be seen in an American zoo as well, and secondly, the quality of the pictures I took isn't all that great because my camera was having issues. So yeah... But I did take quite a few pictures when I went to Lugano! (That's literally
at the other end of the country.) And I honestly hadn't expected this, but take a look at this and tell me that this doesn't scream Hetalia (for us fans, I mean):
(Sing now! Marukaite chikyuu... ♪)
(...marukaite chikyuu, marukaite chikyuu...! ♫)
The Hetalia fan within me was very pleased! The next most awesome thing aside from that was the great view we had when we went to the top of a nearby mountain.
Check it out, if you want. And like when I went to Baden, I made several movies as well because actually taking still pictures was a pain in the butt ;)
Behold!
Movie batch 1 and
movie batch 2 The first batch contains the shorter movies, most of which were shot while I rode the train. As for the second batch... people, fear my voice. Yep, you heard me right: on the top of the moutain, I took a movie of the view and narrated it. It's an approximately 2 minutes and 40 seconds long video, and the audio isn't all that great because of the wind... I decided to post it anyway because I, um, quite like the view, y'know? ^_^;
Hopefully future videos and pictures will turn out better, because today I decided to treat myself and bought a new camera! Apparently it's so intelligent that it will automatically select the appropriate mode for the photo I'd attempt to take, which is good because I fail at actually bothering with those modes...

As far as my writing goes, I've made quite some progress on a certain special someone's birthday fic *winks* Combining the "best" parts of the two attempts I had written is going better than I had expected it to... so I really see no reason why I wouldn't be able to meet the deadline. In the meantime, I might also add an author's note to WIAW so people will know what the deal is with the overdue update(s)...
Since perhaps all I need is a break from that story (lol, how lame is that, considering that I've only written three chapters?), I'll work with my Christmas story ideas while they're still fresh (after I've finished the birthday fic, that is). In case someone might be interested in this, here's the cast (complete with failed comical and exaggerated descriptions, lol). (You'll probably be able to tell at least some things I was - and will be - influenced by...)
[insert title that hasn't been decided yet (duh) here]
Starring:
England as the grumpy old man
America as the overly cheerful youth whose cheerfulness agitates the grumpy old man
Russia as the socially awkward one who tries to get on good terms with the grumpy old man
Ukraine as the sweet, moe and prone-to-tears “damsel”
Canada as the poor invisible guy
France as “Uncle Richard, he’s a weirdo”
Finland as Santa Claus
Belarus as the still psychotic, though slightly more mellow sister
Lithuania as the guy who doesn’t care enough about himself, “too nice”
(Format fail, much? XD)
Yeah, I love the "Grumpy Old..." BBC series, and the Christmas specials of both men and women are to die for, IMHO. Gosh, I hope I won't fail at this story too...

Any recommendable links? I've got one, both for Hetalia and non- resp. not-yet-Hetalia fans:
Anime For Dummies: Hetalia: Axis Powers A good review for the show - from a guy, mind you. I love everything about this except for that little sequence after the ending credits...
*still can't get over how Russia's English dub voice sounds*

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to treat myself again, this time to a piece of Sour Cream Coffee Cake... *hurries off*
