Nothing too exciting going on here, so I just have not felt like updating.
From the cubical I sat in for 8+ years, this job looked like the perfect dream job. Mind you it still is an awesome job, and I am still enjoying it. How else can I have most of my time off, and still get paid a salary?
The only downside is not having my work friends around everyday. I miss my girlfriends I used to eat lunch with each day, and the other friends I had a KForce. I still need to come up with a non-workday routine that gets me out of the house.
I started reading a book called Postmodernism for Beginners. It is very interesting to understand (almost) exactly what Modernism and Postmodernism are. I had been interested in figuring this out for a while, but I really got interested in it when that plane in California had to do an emergency landing with its front landing gear twisted 90 degrees. It was televised live, and the pilot did an amazing job controlling the aircraft on the landing. The tires smoked and then popped, and a shower of sparks and flame shot up from the metal strut.
The Postmodernism part came up when we learned that the passengers were watching CNN with us. They were watching what could be their own demise before and during the landing. One of the passengers said it was more like Post-Postmodernism to her. Smart girl.
Another book I am getting into is Fantastic Voyage: The Science Behind Radical Life Extension. It discusses all the science behind Biotechnology and Nanotechnology. It is very interesting how we can manage health to the point of introducing engineered chemicals that can change the DNA in a living being. Plus the technology to replace major organs (heart, lungs, etc) with machines that can do the job.
They expect all that stuff to be available in the next two decades. Amazing! Then the book goes into how to keep yourself healthy until the technology is available.
Arianna (
dreamgyrl) called just as Cody and I were going into Evo's some quick, health fast food for dinner. She expects to get her crotch rocket this weekend. I know she will be extremely excited!
