Reading...

So I'm going through my room, trying to find something, and I started lining up my books on my dresser, which is like ninety feet of flat surface.

Now, I won't say I'm well-read. I've read a lot of books, however, and some over and over again. Presently I've got a few projects going on--I'm re-reading the Tolkien stuff as research, kind of, for The Big One. I'm reading Finnegans Wake--have been for about a month. I've just finished a few other books, and have no new stuff. I have to hit up the used book store soon, and in a bad way. I really need to offload some shit.

I've got about three hundred books, that I found strewn about my room, in the front "book closet", under the bed, etc. add nozzeum.

Uh, my tastes are varied. A short list of some things I've got: Robert Browning, George R. R. Martin, Joyce, Poe, Stephen King (though, admittedly, I haven't really read anything of his since On Writing), JK Rowling, Margaret Atwood. Hell, I've got the dorky mainstays too: Messrs. Gibson and Stephenson. At the suggestion of someone at E2 I read some Neil Gaiman, and while his stories are wonderfully cool and neato, I don't find him a great, great author. I've got about two dozen big-ass school anthology things (Norton Anthology of Literature, woo!). One of these is a book of 20th century poets. Mr. Frost, Ms. Plath, Mr. Ondaatje, Mr. Williams.

So, uh, why can't I find anything to read, with all these Bigwigs sitting around? Should I just read some Shakespeare or something? Someone offer me up a goddamned book to read. Or better yet, find me a good ebook or some shit. Or something, shit. And yes, I've read Gravity's Rainbow, and I am not at all interested in the work of HP Lovecraft (unless it's free, I ain't payin' for that).

To the gin!
