The 100 just keeps on upping the ante.
That was emotionally exhausting.
At least Finn had a good death.
The problem with Finn, and yes I will start it with that, is that he's selfish. I had to pause while watching the episode because I couldn't listen to him talk. All those "I, me" statements.
And asking forgiveness from Clarke, which Clarke never really gave. (thank you The 100 Writers)
Unlike with Bellamy who didn't ask for forgiveness but Clarke readily gave it. (I feel that I should point this out.)
I had a suspicion that Raven was the one who spacewalked and Finn took the blame for it. That was what Finn (season 1) would do. I liked the flashbacks but it was tainted in a way because when Finn was on Earth with Clarke, he also gave her a crane like he did with Raven. That just made me dislike him more.
I kinda expected Raven to be not as clean-cut as we would like to think. She's a taker. She takes on any opportunity to save the ones she loves. And I respect her for it.
But sometimes this can cloud her judgment too. And this makes her like Finn in a way; not thinking about the consequences of their actions (consequences in terms of other people's welfare because despite believing that they're independent, they are still inevitably part of a society [first in the Ark, then on the Ground] and that whatever they do affects this society).
I think the moment that really hurt was when Murphy realized that Raven brought him to the dropship to be sacrificed. :(
I can see Murphy trying to fit in with the group [of delinquents/100] but then when this happened, he had such a sad look of realization [and resign] on his face. Like all his efforts are for nothing. And he's just something to be bartered with.
I think he didn't expect this from Raven of all people.
He was teary-eyed. *Kudos on Richard Harmon*.
I really appreciate Murphy in this episode because he's the one who finally told Clarke the truth, even if she doesn't want to hear it. That it was also Clarke's fault in a way and that she shouldn't pass the blame to Murphy.
Thank you, Murphy, for saying what I've been thinking and hoping that someone will say to Clarke.
Yes, I know it's also partially Murphy's fault (in that he didn't do enough to stop Finn after being told by Bellamy to watch over Finn) but it would be unfair to blame him for it all. Murphy is trying.
!Sidenote: I kinda crackship Murphy and Clarke after checking the tag last week (and it is a slippery slope).
Another person I appreciate in this episode is Lincoln. He also spoke the unwelcome truth that they would need to comply with the Commander in order to have peace. Sometimes the Sky People forget that their views are not the only ones that matter. They sometimes forget that the Grounders need to have justice too.
I am in awe of the restraint that Lincoln showed. He didn't even try to break free and kill Finn himself. He's the real peacemaker. And he even thought about the welfare of the Sky People instead of just focusing on his people.
Finally, the ark trio is reunited: Abby, Kane, & Jaha.
Jaha is really playing devil's advocate this season. I understand his motives but his actions don't necessarily apply with the Grounders. I'm liking Kane more and more. He's being hopeful (in terms of the truce) and thinking about what the Grounders would want.
Abby is developing as a leader. I like that she decided to keep a level-head through it all (despite being pestered by a lot of people) and even went as far as meeting Indra. I like the Indra-Abby dynamic. It's almost like Anya and Clarke.
Speaking of Clarke. She really is the "commander" of the Sky People. Even if her mom is the Chancellor, the final decision is with Clarke.
Last but not the least, Bellamy and Clarke. These two still exhibit drift compatibility, and it's comforting. I like how Bellamy's actions are influenced by Clarke. He didn't want to sacrifice Finn to the Grounders because that's what Clarke would do. And he even went to Abby about it.
Did you notice that the others listened to Bellamy when he told them where to aim? Bellamy and Clarke are running Camp Jaha whether they know it or not. (Leaders do what they think is right.)
Going back to their drift compatibility, I really like these looks they have with each other. They have wordless communication and it's awesome. Clarke needs to just look at Bellamy or Bellamy needs to just glance at Clarke and they understand what they have to do.
I think Bellamy knew what Clarke was going to do with Finn. He's seen her do it with Atom in Season 1.
Clarke is his angel of death.
Finally, that scene in the dropship when Bellamy sees Clarke bloodied in Finn's arms. He was so worried for her. *my emotions*
He touched her face! I don't know why but it's the little things with Bellamy and Clarke. He touched her face and was trying to assure her that she would be okay (he wanted to assure himself, tbh). Brave Princess can't die.
And don't think I didn't see Murphy trying to help. That's why I can assume that Murphy is trying. He wants to be useful. And I remember that he spent time with Clarke tending to the sick delinquents in Season 1. Maybe he can be Clarke's assistant or something. Please let me have this.
The ending. I don't know how Raven and Clarke's relationship will be after this. But I do feel sorry for them. For Raven who lost her first love and for Clarke who had to kill him.
I think Abby and Kane will finally realize that Clarke was the only one brave enough to do this. She is the true leader.
!sidenote: When Kane and Abby reunited and the camera showed Bellamy and Clarke, I couldn't help but comment that B&C are maybe thinking that they are seeing their future selves. Hehehe.
