Writer's Block: Summer Break

Jul 03, 2007 18:59

How did you spend summers when you were a kid?

Summers sucked.
When me and the bro were younger, we used to be sent off to babysitter's houses all day. That sucked because they had kids that were 3 or younger and there would always be little kids and babies yelling and crying and getting their own way while we were fed half a baloney sandwich for the whole day or one-third of a can of spagetti-o's. And we were ages 8-13. We came home starving every day. And we were always denied snacks because they said that they couldn't afford to feed us, but actually my mom was paying a fortune to have them take care of us. We had only one cool babysitter named Nancy, she had wicked portuguese parents and an even more portuegeuse house. We used to watch movies like Sister Act, License to Drive, Adventures in Babysitting, and Mannaquin over and over again while eating Lemonheads. The best part was the pool in the back with a diving board AND a slide. I taught myself how to swim, mostly from jumping off the diving board into the scary deep end. There were always Nancy's friends to help me though, if i did drown.
Summers of junior high i just walked the house all day wearing an over-sized t-shirt and eating cold blueberry pop-tarts while watching music videos all day on MTV. I tried to think as little as possible.

summer, writer's block
