(disclaimer: This is a funny story, really. It just happens to require the following rather depressing background. My uncle has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He's in the middle of his 3rd (or so) round of chemo, so he has absolutely no hair. None on his head, none on his face - not even any eyebrows ( Read more... )

They're pretty great people. If we ever somehow became not related I'd want to hang out with them anyway.

Yeah, apparently paduwan roughly translates to "beerback" or "barkeep". They don't tell them this until they make it to full Jedi status of course.

I think that the Jedi council needs to their position on that. After all, I feel like the dark side would have much less appeal if people knew that it could not provide them with alcohol.

But so many of the Dark Side powers are tailor-made for general purpose extortion. "Gosh, I'm thirsty. Be a shame if this bar were to be destroyed by Force Lightning, wouldn't it..."

That's an excellent point. Of course, extortion does have its risks. For instance, if I were on the receiving end of that kind of threat I would immediately open up the bar and serve the Sith the best of whatever they wanted. And then when they were completely drunk and couldn't control their powers I'd hogtie them and deliver them to the Jedi temple.
