So things have been pretty busy the last few weeks... hence...I'm a bit delayed in catching things up on here. Went to SmokeOut VII Bike Rally in North Carolina with my friend Lisa. Let me just say that this particular one was covered in testosterone..I'm just say we missed the majority of "let's exploit women" shenanigans of the first day, including the topless bull-riding and bikini motorcycle wash. (ugh). On the other hand, if you wanna feel like a hot babe, this was definitely the place to be, as we were getting checked out left and right. (although not always a GOOD thing, it's ego-boosting to be at least checked out...right? LOL). Anyway, there were definitely some hot men running around. We somehow happened to know someone in every band that played, with the exception of Nashville Pussy, but I still managed to introduce myself to the lead singer cause he is a supporter of ARG and knows quite a few of the Rollergirls. We got to hang out with the same people we met at the last rally, which meant we actually got to hang out with Billy Lane again, who even remembered us. (wow, I'm cool...hehe). Best part of the whole event in my opinion was riding around the rally on the back of our friend Bean're's bike, although I should say, I was in the back, Lisa was riding in front of him, FACING him, so we were definitely a sight to see. Everyone was taking pictures and video, it was so fun!
Hmmm.. which week am I on now? July 4th has got me backwards. The weekend after getting back, I really didn't do much of anything. I had considered going to DV8, but had a headache and was tired, so stayed home. Although I missed many I would have liked to have seen, I hear the music was techno-ish.. and you all know how much I LOVE that...sooo...not too disappointed in not going. Saturday went to Trader Vic's at the last minute for a friend's B-day get-together, which was fun. Then a few of us headed over to 10-Hi in Virginia Highlands for a Saturday version of Metalsome Monday, which I had never been too. Essentially it is karaoke with a live band playing back up (and they are very good actually), and the theme obviously centers around people singing metal (or versions of it)songs of their choice. Much fun, so went to the actual Monday event, since I didn't have to work yesterday. Oh my lord, can I say the crowd was about 10 times as big, and for such a little place, it was like sardines in a sauna. I figured if I had enough beers in hand, and found a spot I didn't have to move from, I could survive the heat and squish factor. I was there with a few other rollergirls, and I was able to convince Wasabirabbit and her new dating companion "R" to come out as well, although unfortunately so packed we didn't get to hang much. Despite the heat and crowd, I much preferred the Monday session, as the singers were much better and the vibe was just awesome. Even the bad singers were forever cheered and encouraged on by the crowd, so even I felt I might one day have the courage to get up there and belt out a tune...perhaps.. hehe. Another bonus...I "won" a $150 hairbut from some salon of which I forget the name at the moment (but apparently is supposed to be very good). And since the "host" of the night is English Nick from 96Rock, and we happen to know him cause his gf is a Rollergirl, he gave those of us there tons of shout outs, as well as told everyone to go the bout on Sunday. Yay us!
As for July 4th, I celebrated by keeping things very low key. Went to lunch with Wasabirabbit and had a good time finally catching up. Then chilled at home a bit before going to practice (yes, I actually had practice!) and then hung out at the Brewhouse for dinner with my team afterwards. So no fireworks or grilled food for me (which I do have to admit I kinda missed), but I wasn't really wanting to do anything major either way (probably the result of being majorly hung over from Monday- eh).
Anyway, hope everyone is well. And don't forget! SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!!!! Come out to the bout!!!!
