6 - When you write, do you prefer writing male or female characters?
Well if you haven’t noticed… definitely female. I can write male, but at times its like pulling teeth with my brain, there’s only been half a dozen or so males I’ve ever been comfortable in writing. My favorite is Lestat, me and the Brat Prince communicate well in my mind, we have this odd sort of connection because we’re similar in personality, translation… we’re both brats.
All in all however I’m more comfortable, completely so in writing female characters it’s not a sexist thing or anything like that it’s just a personal thing. I have some female friends that I know who are far more comfortable in writing male characters, and there are a few who have actually challenged themselves to write a couple of female characters but not very many, maybe one or two. I also have a guy friend who can write a fantastic Emma Frost, better than any female rper or fic writer I’ve ever seen. Really it’s all about comfort, now when writing alone I have to obviously write the male characters, but if I can I like to have a writing partner or rp partner however you want to look at it that does enjoy writing males and it just makes it more fun and relaxing.
