I made my summer to do list about a week ago and have already managed to check off one item. My price list, well it is 90% done anyway. Now my goal is to make another list for comparing prices at target, cvs, and walgreens.
The majority of the rest of my list involves canning. DH and I have only ever canned blueberry jam, and this year we want to try: grape jam, tomato sauce, peaches, applesauce, mandarin oranges, plums, green beans, and pears. The goal is to can enough so that we wont have to buy them from the store at all next year. It is going to be a daunting challenge, but we can put the extra money towards paying off student loans and our mortgage.
Along the lines of saving on groceries we have the goal that by December we want to have almost a years worth of food saved. So everything from fruit, veggies, meat, and baking goods. I figure that with that stockpile all we will have to buy is greens for salads and eggs for the most of the time. We can then apply the $40 that we spend on groceries each week and put it toward paying off bills.
I have several websites that I have been using to help in researching all of this.
