Water.

monkeybard was stating that water has been her issue, as neither her nor her husband's signs are water signs. The same goes for me and my husband, and I think that's evident given the events of the past few months.

Thing 1 to go broken: Garbage disposal in the sink.
Thing 2 to go broken: Dishwasher
Thing 3 to go broken: Roof

What do these things all deal with?

Water.

It's probably the most prevalent destructive thing in this area. If something isn't sealed correctly, water will get in, water will damage it, and then you have one big soggy mess. Like the insulation in our attic next to one of our skylights. Yeah, it never should be raining inside the house. And of course, my lovely husband is leaving for 2 weeks, so guess who gets to deal with fixing the leak? *sigh* I don't really mind, I just don't have time to deal with home fixes right now. so last night was an excercise in patience, as I wriggled and tried to crawl around our attic space which is cramped to say the least, uncomfortable, and precarious, as there's just the main joists and supports to walk on, no solid flooring of any kind. I had my own kind of 2 x 4 "ladder", so I spend most of the 2 hours on my stomach, balanced between 2 or 3 2x4s, removing wet insulation and trying to figure out where the hell the water is coming into the house.

My non-professional diagnosis is the flashing around our skylight is faulty. and of course the area where the water was collecting would have to be where the roof meets the "ceiling", and there's about 12" of space to wriggle through. I'm happy to say that the wet insulation is removed, now today I get to traipse around on the roof with my dad and fix the flashing.

I love my daddy. He knows lots and is still willing to help his little girl when her roof leaks. :)

My next project? Buy a new dishwasher and sink garbage disposal, and pay someone else to install it and take away the old ones. ;)
