Happy Obama Day!
Can I just say how WONDERFUL it is to *finally* have a president who is eloquent, intelligent, well-spoken, COMPETENT, mindful, thoughtful, reverent, and damn inspiring???
That was a fanTAStic speech. They set up a projector and laptop at work so we could all watch the live stream, and someone commented that President Obama (LOVE the sound of that!!) looked smug as he was walking in to take his seat. He kind of did, but you know? I really don't mind. He has the smarts, the mind, the intelligence, the will, and the drive to back up the smug!
To all the nay-sayers who think he's being set up to fail, who think everyone expects too much, who say he is only one man...
All it takes to begin anything is one person and the desire to change. I think some people are expecting him to fix everything in one fell swoop. Change, especially the massive change we need takes time. And it's high time we, as a nation, started taking responsibility for our actions. Maybe this will be the start of the realization that each person is responsible for their actions, on a small and large scale. This is just the beginning. And what a fantastic beginning it is!
I'm finally proud to say I'm American again. It's been such a long time...
