No, no workout (of any sort) in the kitchen.
Today's Mightyness Report: The bus ran late, so I only got 15 minutes of cardio in, plus 5 mins cool down. 1.23 mi (0.93 at the 15 min mark) and 230 cals. After that, I did 3x15 crunches and obliques, paying good attention to my form and doing them slowly. Hurt like a mofo at the time, but I don't think I'll be feeling it for the rest of the day.
The plan is to go every morning now, allowing myself an occasional morning of slack. Also, I'm still thinking that personal training sessions might be a good thing, but those would need to happen at night. Depending on what's involved with those, doubling up and doing two workouts a day may not be overkill.

I got a lot done in the kitchen yesterday, too.
It had been far, far too long since I made big batches of food to keep us honest. Kite slept in pretty late yesterday, and he had some work to do when he got up, so we nixed the idea of lunch out. Too many meals out this week, anyway. I got busy and made our stock sausage dish - chicken sausage with mini ravioli. For this one, I used a full diced onion, some minced garlic, six sausages, a can of diced tomatoes, half a bag of mini ravioli, and a new twist...broccoli instead of spinach. It made 3 enormous portions, and the mini ravioli give just enough pasta chewiness without adding a trillion calories.
As I was getting that together, I made the stove work overtime. One one burner, I made pasta sauce. One package of ground turkey, lightly browned with 2 large onions and 2 cloves of minced garlic. One large can of crushed tomatoes, one large can of tomato puree, and two small cans of tomato paste. (I like more paste than that, but I couldn't find a third can in the cupboard.) Salt, pepper, bouquet garni from Penzey's, some oregano and parsley (dried), and because I love it, lots of extra basil. At about the three hour mark, I threw in about a cup of parmigiano reggiano, finely grated. I let it go for about 6.5 hours. I'm not sure I'm going to love it - I don't really dig the flavor that poultry tends to give tomato sauce - but it'll certainly be better for us than the jarred crap from the supermarket.
Finally, lunches for the week. I carved up a couple of chicken breasts, and sauteed them with another onion and yet more garlic. I poured in a generous heap of Penzey's Maharajah curry powder (thanks to the Zorna household!)....I'd used some of the other spices in this gift box before, but hadn't tried the curry. It smells delightful! And after it cooks down, there's lots of saffron in the dish. Anyway, some of that, and a bag of frozen peas. Half a cinnamon stick and a bay leaf for more seasoning. About a cup of water. I let it all simmer, and decided after an hour that it wasn't thick enough, so in went about 2C of fat free sour cream. After a couple more hours at a simmer, the chicken was just falling apart. Again, not sure I love it, I didn't get the seasoning quite right, but it's pretty ok. Very cinnamony! Perhaps too much. I'll know for next time.
