Copied from Gwen's journal:::

Please considering voting for 'She's a Boy I Knew' at the film fest! Protected
So here's how it goes...

The VIFF + Vancity has a People's Choice Award for Most Popular Canadian Film.

Because my film was the last film screened on Thursday evening, they ran out of ballots and many people tried using the Rogers International Film ballots. According to the theatre manager, those ballots won't be counted.

If you saw and liked the film or are going to see it (and find yourself liking it), I really REALLY encourage you to consider voting for it as the People's Choice Award for Most Popular Canadian Film either by ballot or text message (see below). If you know other's who were there or who are going, could you spread the word? I'd be so appreciative!

Why?

Because:

A) It will help my little proactive film about trans, queer & family issues gain more stature and be noticed internationally, and therefore more likely to be invited to festivals around the world, where it can be seen by others who will become more aware of these issues and recognize that, yes, families can thrive when queer & trans identities are accepted in our loved one's.

B) It will help send a message that there is an audience for 1st person low-tech DIY documentaries/films and that the media should pay more attention to all of us, not just the yuppies and the old boys club with their over-budgeted low-content films.

C) It will definitely help advance my budding career as a filmmaker. And as a transgender lesbian filmmaker, you better believe it'll be important to have some credentials behind me in order to be taken seriously in the film world.

D) You'll be entered into a $500 draw.

E) You will make me soooooooo happy and even more indebted to you and the Vancouver eastside community that I love.

How do you vote?

A) If you go to a film fest movie, there are ballot boxes in the lobby. Just find a Vancity Most Popular Candian Film ballot and fill it in.

OR EVEN EASIER:

B) Text message the VIFF telephone number 604 644 3977 and enter the following text:

VOTE SHESA 5

Again, please spread the word to others. I'll be so incredibly grateful!
