Civility
People say, "Let's be civil to Republicans." Gladly. I'll be civil to Republicans when they stop supporting moves to 'erase' transgender people, when they stop allowing our 'president' to encourage violence against a free press, and when they stop turning over the world to greed.
Let me be clear. I'm happy there are differences of opinion on taxes, state vs. federal rights, even questions of international aid policy. That is all based on intellectual and thoughtful principles and analysis. But questions of faith, sexual orientation, race, suppressing the media, these are not legitimate points for debate.
I'll be civil if you treat other people with decency and respect, and if you have an articulate reason for your stances. I won't be civil if you choose to ignore an injustice done to an oppressed minority for the sake of benefit to yourself. And to be clear, a white Christian Republican is not an oppressed minority, no matter what Fox News implies.
