LJ Maintenance

So for a while now, I've been wanting to "clean up my act" on LJ. Get rid of the communities I'm moderating or pass them on, and delete any journals I'm not using.

Today I passed along the last of my communities to another mod (bsg_graphics), so that's a relief. I'd meant to pass it on LONG before now, but it kept slipping my mind and I kept ignoring the community except for its very basic duties. Now though, I'm done, and that's a relief.

I've also split my odysseyworkshop duties with quiet-rebel: the weekly posts were starting to wear on me and my time, and so I'm grateful someone's helping me out with certain posts. She'll be taking two of the monthly features, and I'll keep two as well (don't worry, I'm still handling the pubs/sales, so keep that news coming!).

The REAL hard thing to do was breaking down and deleting makingmischief. It started out as a writing journal, but it never got much traffic and I became increasingly paranoid about posting fiction, so I converted it to an icon/graphics journal, and that was a lot of fun. But it's been YEARS since I've made any real graphics for others to use, and while once and a while I'd get someone snagging an icon or two, it's time I deleted the journal. It's a little sad, as I went back to look at some of the work, and it's work I still like in some cases, but it was time. Now I just have to go to PhotoBucket and delete all the corresponding files.

As far as maintenance goes, that's it for now. I'm still keeping devilwrites (and looking for ways to increase traffic), and calico_reaction isn't going anywhere. In fact, I just posted a new review earlier today for Paolo Bacigalupi's The Windup Girl. Go on, you know you want to read it. ;)

Anyway, the random announcements you don't care about are over. You may now return to your regularly scheduled day. :)

EDIT: finally got through my PhotoBucket and cleaned it out completely. I think that was almost sadder than deleting my icon journal, because in PhotoBucket, I had to LOOK at all the stuff I was deleting. Oh well. It's gone (well, technically, still on my hard drive), and I've got much more room to add . . . stuff. :)
