So a couple people have inquired as to my whereabouts, wondering what I've been up to in the wake of any real-life updates. I will try to bring you up to speed, though there's not much to tell.
Writing-wise, I've stopped posting the weekly updates. Big fat duh, I know, if you read this journal regularly. Reasons being I've become suddenly and irrationally superstitious, and I don't want to talk about my writing at all. I will, eventually, and I suspect I know when that will be, but that's for me to know and you to wait for. ;)
Though, I'm behind on reviews. I've typed up the review for Hyperion, but not Fall of Hyperion, and even though neither will be posted till the end of this month, I'd like to get them written and out of my brain. Same goes for Rant, though in this case, every time I sit down to write something out, my brain just loses focuses. I just can't talk about this book, for whatever reason, even though I loved it, and it now ranks #3 in my list of favorite Palahniuk books ever, right behind Survivor and Choke, respectively.
Residency is fast approaching, and we only just got our workshop stories last week. It's odd, because while I have roughly two weeks to get this stuff done, which is more than enough time, even for how I critique, I still feel like it's pushing the wire, that we're getting stuff late, etc. I don't know if it's because we ARE getting stuff late or I'm imagining it, but either way, stress is creeping up on me, which is part of that blasted focus I mentioned earlier.
Because believe me, I've tried to update here. Anything I have to say is either too long or too short, and I either lose focus or interest mid-way through the entry. It all boils down to the single question, "Why am I posting again?"
But I'm remiss on kudos, so here goes:

As far as kudos go, I think that's it in terms of people I know or am associated with. And I limited this to fiction that you can get your hands on now, versus sale announcements. Fair? Good. And I apologize if I missed anyone...I looked for names I knew.
What else can I babble about? Life is life, work is work, some days are good, some days are bad. Monday was one of those latter days. So was Saturday and Sunday, for that matter. Like I mentioned above, there's lots of stress to be found, and focus is hard to keep a hold of. But despite all the work on my plate, I'm looking forward to residency, looking forward to getting away from TN for a while and just being around writers again. I need the pick-me-up, no doubt.
But I have transfered the bulk of my library at my grandmother's over to Greg's. FINALLY. My
LibraryThing holds about 474 books, which include some of Greg's library too. The only books lacking on my part is my Star Wars collection, which I didn't have room for in my car, and various media-related books and academic texts. Not a whole lot, but still a good 100 more to go, at least.
Needless to say, there's lots of reading in my future. And writing. And I'm mostly looking forward to it all. Mostly.
Time for lunch.
The kitty says "hi."
