One thing, for BSG fans only: HOLY FRAK!!!
*coughs*
WRITING:
Total Word Count for the week: 800 words
Total Word Count in Novel: 16,580 words
Time Spent: 1 hour
The joke's on me this week. I don't have a single excuse except for Wednesday, when a migraine knocked me out (literally, I couldn't go to work that day). Other than that, I was distracted, pure and simple. I think it's partially because the chapter I'm wrestling with is boring me (how to make semi-religious ceremonies seem realistic and NOT melodramatic?), and partially because the direction I had planned to go in immediately following said boring chapter wasn't quite the right direction. I think I've found a cure for the latter, but not the former.
READING:
Finished reading the ARC of Justina Robson's Keeping It Real, which was a helluva lot of fun. A nice blend of fantasy and SF, more fantasy than SF, really, and I'd highly recommend it, provided you enjoy elves. Trust me, you have to like elves in order to enjoy a book with an elf rock-star as one of the main characters. :) (
emerald_ibis and
steelvictory, I'm looking at you two). Book release is March 14th, and if you want a taste test, just go to the website (
here) for both an excerpt (click tabs "Common Knowledge" and "Read an Excerpt" in THAT order) and download some music provided by said elf rock-star. ;)
Finally reading George R.R. Martin's A Game of Thrones. I'm about halfway through, and I'm pleased with how smooth the pace is, considering the length. I have to be careful about picking this up though, cause it's rather hard to put down.
MISCELLANY:
Nothing to say here, except that everyone should go see
Stranger than Fiction, especially those of you who are writers. It's a real treat, I promise. :)
THIS WEEK:
Um, do better? Forget the word count goal: I have to get my previously written chapters cleaned up for the March 11th deadline, and I would like to make some headway in the novel. How much, I refuse to say. I don't want to embarrass myself again. :-/
