Back from Barb's wedding. Babbling about said wedding (and being back in New Hampshire--Odysseyers will want to read part of this) behind the cut. Those of you not interested may skip. :)
Going back to Manchester wasn't nearly as bittersweet as I expected. I think it was all due to the fact that
drlele and I made the trek together, and we spent our plane trip babbling about people we know and television. :)
But let's back up:
Originally, I was supposed to fly out of Knoxville to Memphis, then Memphis to Detroit, and then Detroit to Manchester. Turns out, it's a GOOD THING to be early for your flights, because my Memphis flight was delayed, which would affected my connection time, so the airline just stuck me on the flight that went directly to Detroit. Nice, even though I had a long layover at the Detroit airport. The good thing is Detroit has a really nice airport, and it was easy to kill time.
Being around Lele and Alex was super-fun. I hadn't seen either one of them in a year, so it was great to kick back and play catch-up. We, Joel (Barb's fiance), and Barb's friend Rhianne went to a pizza-place for dinner, and on the way to the hotel, stopped at a gas station where I found a bottle of Moxie. And as soon as I saw it, Joel's like, "I love that stuff!" which was reason enough to buy it and make all the girls try it.
The look on
drlele's face ALONE was worth the price of the bottle. Lele, who'd been the non-profane one the entire evening, sticks out her tongue and starts swearing. It was awesome. Actually, wicked-awesome.
Friday was spent running around Nashua to get items for an impromptu bridal-shower for Barb. We had far too much fun shopping for both Barb and ourselves, and Barb enjoyed our efforts, despite the headaches and stress she was dealing with.
Saturday was beyond enjoyable. A relaxing wedding that felt more like a very large barbecue. We Hollins-girls know how to get sexy, and get sexy we did. Barb looked amazing, and the ceremony was cute, with Joel vowing to love her "for poorer or richer" instead of "for richer or poorer". Barb laughed and did the same thing to him, because as she pointed out to me on the way home, they're already poor. :)
There's not all that much to say. Fun on the lake, wicked-awesome breakfasts (yay for good cheese omelets!), and fun with friends. I'm very happy for Barb and Joel, because they're beyond an adorable couple. And Barb's wedding finally jump-started my brain into thinking about my own. HA. That'll be interesting.
This morning, I woke up at the ass-crack of dawn to nearly miss my six a.m. flight. I've decided, though, to avoid Northwestern if I can. Not only do they make you pay for in-flight SNACKS, but they also have a habit of ripping things off your luggage. On the way there, it was the orange puff-ball that made my black bag distinct from all the others. On the way home? The actual NAME-TAG. Granted, it was the paper name-tag, but still...
But I'm home, exhausted, and (surprise!) doing laundry. I've already had one two-and-a-half hour nap today (with the kitty curled up beside me! Yay for kitties! There were too many dogs up in NH!!), and look forward to going to bed relatively soon. Well, as soon as the laundry's done, that is.
Goal for this week: get my ass in gear.
