Le big ol' HIRUMA YOUICHI FAQ

Jul 14, 2006 10:05

Because I worry that players may get a little uncomfortable when Hiruma pops up to interact with their characters, here be explanations for you all! This may be edited as the days go by, so players will at least know what's going on in his head and not be too alarmed.

... who?

Hiruma Youichi, captain and quarterback of the Deimon Devilbats. Ruthless, intelligent, insane, and always carries a heavy arsenal wherever he goes.

What's up with those looks?

It's been brought up in ES21 canon that he dyed his hair blonde and added all those ear piercings to intimidate his opponents. Whether his ears and fangs are natural, well... I'd like to think that they are because the opposite is a very frightening thought.

Just what does he want from me!?

Everything Hiruma does, he plays it with an intention. Nobody really ever knows what he's up to, unless you're actually intelligent enough to follow along his thought process, though you can be sure of one thing - it usually has some connection to football. He's really just a huge football otaku whose entire life centers around the game.

As I had mentioned in the post on the OOC comm, the Hiruma I'm playing no longer has any intention of recruiting people into the Devilbats. But, he does tend to put his team (er, once they enter camp he finds them) through rigorous training, so he's very intrigued by the idea of playing against all these so-called supers and ninjas and non-humans he's been hearing about.

Basically, at this point, if your character happens to be an athlete, inhuman, or possess some form of power that normal humans don't, Hiruma might approach them with the intention of finding out their potential for football. If he's interested, I will hit you up to ask if you mind having your character join his football training sessions (which are highly vigorous and full of gunfire), and if your character expresses disinterest, whether blackmail can come into play.

Of course, there are people who now interest Hiruma outside of the "ooh, useful for football!" track (read: Nishi), so if he harrasses these, he might actually be doing it simply because he enjoys the verbal sparring.

Blackmail.

You've all filled out the list (I hope ^^;) so I will refer to that and will always ask before pulling out the organiser. For reference on how he does it, see Ari being blackmailed. Um, cookie for being the first!

Hiruma in canon versus Hiruma in camp

In canon, you only ever see Hiruma interact with teammates or players in rival teams; other people are just these random victims of blackmail he uses to get more football equipment or some such thing. He's almost always antagonizing someone, taunting, threatening, or forcing them to do his bidding. Hiruma in camp cannot afford to do that, unless I want him burnt at a stake a day after his arrival. So I play a "placid" form of Hiruma who does have the intention to make use of this camp as training grounds for football, but is also busy being amused by the stupidity around him. In other words, the Hiruma you see in canon when he's quietly analyzing plays or talking to his teammates while watching a match - a confident, intelligent nut who just plain wants to win the Christmas Bowl.

This is the Hiruma curse I think. Much of Hiruma's crack comes from his insanity, but there's only so much insanity that can be shown in camp without making him difficult to interact with. If he gets too mild however, it'd just be OOC. If I upset this balance, someone please to come yell at me on Hiruma's journal.

Uh, I hope all of that made sense. XD;

Hiruma and Sena

Ahahaha. Oh Sena. Let's put it this way: Hiruma will, without a doubt, mafia for Sena. I can't say for sure whether Hiruma does like Sena, but he'll protect the boy for the sake of the football team. And then probably shoot at Sena for getting himself into a mess like that. At this point in canon, Sena's still masquerading as the team's secretary, instead of his actual position as the famous running back, Eyeshield 21. This is the important bit - anyone who knows of this secret, Hiruma will come by to give you The Talk. Assuming he ever finds out that your character knows of course.

Hiruma and Sakuraba

Juri did an excellent write-up on Sakuraba's view of Hiruma, here. ♥

As Sakuraba hasn't shown his full potential at this point in canon yet, Hiruma just sees the boy as a useful source of bait or distraction, as opposed to an actual football player to spot on the field. Seeing as how Sakuraba doesn't have legions of fangirls in camp however, that convenience is probably lost. That doesn't mean that he won't continue to watch the boy - an Oujou player is still an Oujou player, and you never know how much a kid could develop in a zombie camp CREWCUT.

Hm. I think too much. D:
